This title presents the human experience of psychological disorders. In Richard Halgin and Susan Krauss Whitbourne's "Abnormal Psychology: Clinical Perspectives on Psychological Disorders", students are shown the human side of Abnormal Psychology. Through the widespread use of current and highly relevant clinical case studies, the biographies and first-person quotations in the "Real Stories" feature, and the unique case media program 'Faces Interactive Online', students are presented with real-life portrayals of the disorders featured in the text. The new sixth edition includes updated research coverage and increased pedagogy, designed to maximize student comprehension. The text maintains the integrative approach to treatment using the bio-psycho-social model, the lifespan approach, and the succinct coverage that have been the foundations of the text's success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Well Done, June 7, 2006
As any undergraduate student probably knows, most college courses require a textbook; many of which are so painfully long and monotonous that it's really hard to stay focused on the material being read. 'Abnormal Psychology,' on the other hand, was a pleasure to read. Halgin and Whitbourne have presented this subject in a style that's informative, yet clear and concise, and above all...interesting. Included are case studies that accompany each chapter, providing helpful examples of the psychological disorders being addressed (e.g., personality disorders, eating disorders, schizophrenia, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, etc.), along with video clips in the cd-rom. In addition, the writing style itself makes for a smooth read. This book is definitely recommended for understanding abnormal psychology (and if you're a student I'd suggest the workbook too).

This edition was well done. Extra helps and case studies add depth to lectures. All Psych students could benefit from having this text in their collection.

I found this textbook to be easy to understand, interesting in that it kept my attention, and very well done. First textbook I've actually read in its entirety.
