This review is from: All Aboard Fire Trucks (Reading Railroad) (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for a child with interest in fire fighting and rescue vehicles. My son really enjoys knowing all of the different types of trucks and has gone to the local fire station and identified them for the firefighters! This book is also helpful in the classroom during sections on community workers.

My 4 year old grandson has inherited his dad's love of fire engines. He went ga-ga over the Fireman Sam DVD's, so thought I'd get him this and 2 other fire truck books. My son said they read all three almost every night...real faves!

This review is from: All Aboard Fire Trucks (Reading Railroad) (Paperback)
My 2 1/2 year old nephew is seriously into fire trucks and he loves this book. It is a very good one to feed that interest. It's text is aimed at an older child, in that it gives a lot of information about the images, but the images themselves are perfect for a child who doesn't read yet. I can see this book holding his interest for years - the images now, and the words once he is able to read. The book depicts all the various types of fire trucks and auxiliary vehicles called into action when there is a fire. The images are nicely detailed, colorful, and there is also a page that has images of various pieces of equipment used by the firemen - ax, rope, air tank, jaws-of-life, etc. I like this book because it provides a lot of jumping off points for discussions about fire trucks, firemen, and fire fighting, so it works as a book that holds his interest when he is looking at it by himself and when it is being read to him.
This is the second book that he has in the Reading Railroad series and I've been very impressed by them. I'm going to see what else is available in this series. |
