Desert-island disc, January 20, 2005
This review is from: Abort (Audio CD)
How could this album ever have gone out of print? Fortunately, it's back, so now you've got no excuse -- especially if you enjoy the likes of Hole, Veruca Salt, Lush, Garbage, or The Heartthrobs. Genius guitar hooks, great vocal harmonies, inspired drumming -- and maybe a *little* too much production, depending on your tastes. (If the latter overpowers the experience for you, there's always _Here at the Home_, which contains earlier versions of most of these songs. It's not exactly easy to find, though.) In its day, _Abort_ was an overlooked alt-emo-goth-power-pop masterpiece. I'm not entirely convinced that its day has ended. I suppose that's partly up to you.

Its a shame they didnt make more albums, January 29, 2004
This review is from: Abort (Audio CD)
Abort is a wonderful album that never found an audience. Its gothic, punk, pop all at the same time and catchy as hell. Im just going to state what everybody else has already said here and its absolutley true, this band should have been alot bigger. Its a shame they broke up, I think the 3rd time might have been the charm. I blame the record company for not putting more marketing muscle behind this band. I remember when their 2nd album Sleeper came out, the record store only had one copy sent to them which I bought and there was absolutley no advertising for this album or sleeper. Abort and Sleeper are both great albums and I still listen to them today and they still sound fresh. Hopefully they will get together again in the future and make another album.

One of my Favorite Bands Ever - And Widely unknown!, December 30, 2003
This review is from: Abort (Audio CD)
Another one of those local Boston groups that really should have gone big time, but for some reason or another, didn't. It didn't matter if you were listening to them live or on CD, but they captivated audiences and energized them. Their music had an almost hauntingly frank quality to it, and Abort is no exception. My favorite of the two albums, it is both soft and razor sharp at times, but always quality. Even the raw edges, where you can find them, only served to make them more of a find.
