This is the definitive history of the development of Roman Catholic views on abortion. It is exhaustive, and includes a review of the entire literature on the subject. It is especially valuable for its review of Early Christian/Patristic authorities and the careful exposition of the various debates within the Medieval and post-Reformation church.
