From the 1980's, the KGB increased pressure on Fr. Men and his parish. Even brief meetings with his spiritual children were forbidden. As a result, these meetings-these 'conversations about Christ'Church, Bible, life and death-moved to secret rooms and privatge homes. The conversations, recorded and transcribed in the first Russian edition, now in english, were preserved by Men's disciples and followers. 'Yes, there will be diversity, but is need not turn into antagonistic, divisive groupings, or schisms and sects. When you encounter other forms of Christianity, I urge you to patience, even if it is difficult'- Fr. Alexander Men.
