Not my Cup of Tea.But a Good book.,
By Ambrosia Jefferson (IN, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: About Face (Paperback)
This book is well written and full of emotion. But over all it did not end up appealing much to me. It could have been my reading mood or perhaps I just didn't click with the material. I do not hold the author at fault at all for my not liking the book. It is fast paced and very human. It has some very witty points as well. If you usually like this genre of book I would give it a read.

This book is, as I stated, excellent. The storyline good, the writing fabulous. Told in the distinctive voices of the two brothers, the book unfolds in a wonderfully unique way. About Face was recommended to me by someone on the internet. I was skeptical, but purchased it anyway. Am glad I did, because it is one solid read.

I couldn't put it down! I read the last half of the book in one sitting...it left me spellbound! The structure of alternating chapters from each of the two main character's perspective, is creatively done and pulls the reader in. As a result, the authors do an extraordinary job at building a connection between the characters and the reader, with vivid descriptions and tapping emotions that anyone who has siblings, will relate to emphatically. The story builds to an incredible conclusion that will leave you contemplating the realtionships of the characters for days. I highly recommend this book from these exceptionally talented authors...Bravo!!!

This is a terrific piece of writing between Levin and Weiss. The story never slows up, and the flow between the two writers is great; there is no on-again off-again feel as the writers interchange. The two authors create one smooth read. Highly suggested!!

About Face is an excellent book. Economically descriptive, the book is narrated via the distinctive voices of brothers Damion and Travis Face, two wonderful spirits that were easy to admire, feel sorry for, and at the same time, applaud in their efforts to escape a life many of us are lucky to have never known. I would tell anyone interested in a fast-paced, beautiful story, to pick up a copy of this book. And the ending? My God, hold on...

More Great Work,

This review is from: About Face (Paperback)
The author, Robert E. Levin continues to elevate his readers to different levels. Though this time, a real treat is given to the reader when the work is shared with Steve J. Weiss. The characters are brought to life by vivid images and believable situations. This is a thriller that sits on the cusp of reality while remaining fiction. That is a feat not easily achieved by many writers. A definite read that keeps you from beginning to end.

Add this book to your summer reading list!,

I devoured this book whole. Not a morsel was left, though I do hope the authors write a second book together! This is a story that will appeal to a wide range of readers on all levels, as it could possibly be a "true" story, rather then fiction. The focus in About Face is about two teen brothers, the abuse they suffer at the hand of a cold, uncaring father, and the boys attempt to help a young boy out of his own domestic abuse situation. The tale is told from each boys point of view, each writer using a different voice and writing style. I found this to add to the flavor and style of the story line. I even took this book to work to read on my lunch hour, I was so caught up! All characters are well rounded, with clear speaking voices. I loved some, admired others and HATED others. Personalities sprung to life on the pages of my imagination wile reading About Face. About Face is a tale of terror, without the vampires, two head demons or demented scientists lurking about. Just raw emotion A friend recommended I read this book and I am now passing on that advise to others. You won't regret it.

I have read About Face by Robert Edward Levin and Steve J. Weiss. The writing is tight and well thought out. The character development is so sound I was drawn into the read from the beginning. I am on my second read of About Face now, and am just as pleased with the book this time around. Fine work indeed, just an excellent piece of writing.Michael Ladanyi |
