This book is a written expansion of the successful video, "The Witness at Your Door." MacGregor tells the fictional story of how "Joe" enters and exits the world of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

On the way, Joe encounters "Beverly," who is equipped with Christian interpretations of powerful Bible passages which speak to the spiritual needs of a Jehovah's Witness. Beverly shares with Joe the identity of Jesus Christ, and, in the process, models an effective way to communicate the need of a JW to develop a personal relationship with Jesus.

As a former Jehovah's Witness, MacGregor gives insights into the stresses and thought processes of JW's. She also examines some of the claims and prophecies of the Watchtower Society which have been proven false. Reading her book is like having someone at your shoulder who's been there--on both sides of the door.

Lorri MacGregor "was a Jehovah's Witness for 15 years before a Christian led her to Christ. She and her husband Keith have been in fulltime ministry to Jehovah's Witnesses and other cults since 1979."

In the Introduction to this 1992 book, the editors wrote, "The success of the video The Witness at Your Door DVD prompted many requests for additional written material on the subject of presenting Jesus to Jehovah's Witnesses... This book greatly expands on the information in the video, giving Christian readers the information they need to effectively present Jesus to Jehovah's Witnesses. Because the book follows the story line of the video, the reading is not heavy, but more like a novel."

"Jehovah's Witnesses just love counting time with willing listeners. It cuts down on the time they must spend in the more difficult door-to-door work." (Pg. 16)
"(J)ust prior to the actual baptism, each candidate answers two questions. The first question is: 'On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?' ... The second question ... is very revealing: 'Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's Spirit-directed organization?'" "This part of the Society's activities is run like a direct sales organization, with similar methods of motivation. The Society collects money for their literature 'up front' at the Kingdom Hall, from their own people by direct charge or donation. Now Jehovah's Witnesses are expected to request donations at the doors as well and turn this money in at the Kingdom Halls. This recent practice is increasing the wealth of the Watch Tower Society dramatically." (Pg. 25)
"Why has the Watch Tower Society ... willingly and knowingly been in communication with a spiritistic society (the Johannes Greber Memorial Foundation)?" (Pg. 62)
The Emphatic Diaglott "which the Watch Tower prints on its own presses," was written by Benjamin Wilson, who "was a follower of John Thomas, a proven false prophet by failure of his dates, and the founder of the Christadelphians, a Christ-dishonoring cult." (Pg. 64)
