Overlooked Movie = Overlooked Soundtrack,
By Danaphile "music lover" (San Francisco, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: About Last Night: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This must be one of the most underappreciated movie soundtracks of the great soundtrack era called the 1980s. There are two incredibly chipper songs here by Sheena Easton plus great love songs by John Waite, Bob Seger, Paul Davis, Jermaine Jackson, J.D. Souther, John Oates and others.

In college, my friends and I loved this movie and the soundtrack. I lost my tape cassette years ago and have been trying to find this CD for years! I finally found it on Amazon and I am pumped! The songs bring back memories of the movie and the fun we had in college!

I love the movie. Rob and Demi had a dynamite chemistry on-screen. I'm getting the soundtrack because of the song "Trials of the Heart". It's just my favorite song on this delicious 80's soundtrack.p.s ...the supporting actors were superb too. apps~

but it just doesn't matter. This soundtrack is brilliant. Just try not to get all aglow when Sheena sings about a natural love. Try not to get into mood listening to "Words into Action." And the Bob Seger tune? Genius my friends. I wouldn't lie to you. The movie is great too. Yes, I know Rob and Demi are in it and it was the 80's but just let all that go.

This was a CD purchase to replace the vinyl LP I bought many years earlier. If you enjoyed the movie as much as I did, you're gonna like the music. The songs are all 80's sounding, but I actually got the CD for Bob Seger's "Living Inside My Heart". A great song which oddly does not appear on any other Bob Seger greatest hit compilations.

I actually owned this movie on tape when I was in college, and we wore it out! I never paid any attention to "professional" movie critics, thankfully, or I would have missed out on an awesome movie. THIS is reality TV, not the crap we see on TV these days. Great cast too - these characters were all people we knew and hung out with. This is one of the best movie soundtracks of all time (the Bob Seger song is compelling) (the other great soundtracks being St Elmo's Fire, Breakfast Club, Forrest Gump, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High).

Track Listing on Amazon is Wrong,
By BillieJean (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: About Last Night: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
The track listing on amazon is wrong. The following track listing IS correct (as I do have the CD and I own the movie).
1. So far so good - Sheena Easton 2. (She's the) Shape of Things to Come - John Oates 3. Natural Love - Sheena Easton 4. Words into Action - Jermaine Jackson 5. Step by Step - J.D. Souther 6. Living Inside My Heart - Bob Seger 7. Trials of the Heart - Nancy Shanks 8. 'Til You Love Somebody - Michael Henderson 9. If We Can Get Through the Night - Paul Davis 10. True Love - The Del Lords 11. If Anybody Had a Heart - John Waite And these are the orginal songs from the movie too! I did not purchase my CD from amazon, so if you want the original make sure they match these tracks! I hope this helps anyone out there looking for the original songs from the movie! Enjoy! It's a great CD! :)

So many great songs on this album. Really brings back good memories of that era and Chicago in general when I lived there.Don't miss this one if you're an 80's fan.

Why I really like this movie..Is it the comedy, romance, or just the everyday lives of these young people? I love the one liners by
Jim Belushi and Elizabeth Perkins..The soundtrack is so good...The Sheena Easton songs ..she still performs them in her act in Las Vegas. She tells the audience how they have to see the movie to hear the songs.. |
