I was absolutely thrilled to see this movie on Amazon Prime. It is Shirley Booth at her absolute best.
This movie is a gem that is currently not available for purchase in ANY way.
If Amazon offered this movie for sale I would purchase it in a heartbeat.
The movie is a tearjerker and tugs at the heart strings. Have plenty of tissues on hand.
If you love heartfelt romantic movies this one is a treasure worth seeing.
I recommend it VERY highly.

I am a reluctant fan of Shirley Booth's movies. One reason I enjoy Ms. Booth's movies, she plays an underdog who rises to heights that earn a watcher's respect, even though her voice can slightly annoy me. Second reason I enjoy her movies, she usually is her own self support during eras dominated by standard family headed by men. Lastly, she's never been an attractive woman, but has a charm that comes through, along with a good sense of humor. This movie has all those reasons,

I remember Shirley Booth as hazel the maid. I was really surprised to see her cast in a role like this. But when i think about it she was perfect. Not the most beautiful women in the world but for six weeks out of the year she had what most women dream. A man who wanted her. Bring out the tissues this one will make you cry.

One of very few Shirley Booth films. She elevates a mediocre story. Booth brings heart, soul, pathos and a tinge of humor to the role, a superb performance.

An endearing love story, well-acted. Cannot remember Shirley Booth in a non-comedic role, but she does justice to Mrs. Leslie.

A most unusal movie was this one. It was like being a boat happily floating along on the waves of the sea not knowing where the waves would take you, but not caring because the ride is so mesmerizing. This movie drew me into the characters' lives and their feelings about their life. Each one was significant in their own way whether high brow or low.
At its end, there was a tinge of feeling forlorn for want of wishing I could have stayed with each one to learn what became of them.

and have been trying to locate for many years! Shirley Booth gives a wonderful performance as an average woman who spends six weeks per year with a very attractive, intelligent, well-to-do, albeit, married man. The story is told in flashback which makes it even more compelling. Look for a young Ellen Corby playing the next door neighbor, too :)! Edit: July 28, 2014--I cannot believe only 16 people have commented on this film. It is one of my top-ten favorite movies of all-time!
