Biography

Born in the Netherlands, partially raised in Germany by a mother who is a songwriter and piano teacher and a father who is an opera singer, music was a naturally given gift, genetically passed on, a way to communicate your mood and your feelings.
Then in 1995, after years of demos and small local performances, she received a universal offer from a label in the US with her debut single ... Read more in Amazon's Amber Store

He does a great job making this a real club worthy track.
cisco
This song is one of the best off her self-titled cd(Object of Your Desire--my favorite and hopefully will be a single) and roars in the remixes.
njaya
The best version of the song is the original version of the song.

If you've ever listened to Amber, you need this cd single. It contains 8 mixes(album version, 3 radio remixes, two club-style mixes, a velvet mix, and a dub version). This song is one of the best off her self-titled cd(Object of Your Desire--my favorite and hopefully will be a single) and roars in the remixes. I'm not a huge dub mix fan since they tend to be repetitive, but the Sal Dano and Brian K's Hard Dub(track 8) is the best dub mix I've ever heard. It builds and builds throughout using a sample of the chorus "I Can See" to float through connecting the song. It has synthesizer licks that remind me of Rollo's remix of "Insomnia" by Faithless. It goes back and forth between orchestral-style parts to flat-out dance synthesizer sections. A must-buy just for this remix alone. Also get her full length cd, you won't be disappointed.

this maxi single is the definitive club single ! all of the remixes are gr8, but.. the best one is the sal dano and brian k. hard dub (#8)...you must listen to this..as revieweed further down this page, it mixes orchestral sections and techno beats through the "dub"...it's unlike any dub i've ever heard! get this maxi single !

Everyone better listen up to this one. I got it 3 weeks ago on vinyl when it came out and the J Peters remix is hot. It is already #12 on the dance charts and isn't even out on cd single yet. Give this song 6 weeks and I guarantee it will be as big as Whitney. Just give it a few weeks. And when it comes out on single, don't miss it.

After releasing such mega dance hits as "This Is Your Night", "One More Night", "If You Could Read My Mind" (From the "54" soundtrack), and "Sexual", she returns with another infectious dance hit, "Above The Clouds". "Above The Clouds" is about a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship that has experienced and endured pain and doubts along the way. Amber sings about the "arguments", "heartaches", "tears" and "pain" in this relationship. She sings about them doubting whether this relationship would last and whether it was worth it to enter the relationship in the first place. The answer is a resounding "yes"! Since they stuck together through it all and continued to love each other, the "storm" has finally ended. And now, the couple is "flying above the clouds" and they can see "happiness" and clarity from up there. Ahhh, the power of love.
Amber colors the song with vocals that oscillate between tenderness and power throughout the song. She really knows how to use her voice to express feelings such as sadness (in describing the troubled relationship), and feelings such as happiness and elation (when the relationship survives). The Original Mix (Track #1) borrows the same rhythmic beat from the remix to Deborah Cox's "Things Just Ain't The Same". Jonathan Peters' contributions to this cd single (Tracks #2, 5, & 7) are probably the best remixes on this cd single with Track #2 being the best one. Track #5 is an extended version of Track #2 while Track #7 is a fast and furious house music version of this song. Sal Dano and Brian K's Hard Dub (Track #8) deserves mention too as they combine electronic beats and string-like arrangements in their instrumental remix. Together, tracks #2, 5, 7, and 8 will definitely get you dancing on the floor.

Since I love Amber, I thought that being objective would be hard...but the fact is that these remixes don't fit the bill. Jonathan Peters mixes are very airy and without much "ummph." The Sal Dano mix seems a little too hard but has a great breakdown that makes the NYC boys scream at the Roxy. Great for Amber collectors but if you can get your hands on them...get the Thunderpuss 2000 mixes. Thunderpuss delivers another stunning set of remixes...hot on the trail of Sexual. Plasmic Honey also do an incredible dub mix that alas, was not released on the single. Basically, the single buying public were given a set of humdrum mixes that'll never see this single reach the top. Thank God for vinyl and the undying devotion of certain dj's and remixers.

Well not many things to say about this CDS. Previous reviewers told almost everything that you need to know: no Thunderpuss mixes on the CDS but i think Jonathan Peters, Sal Dano & Brian K., and even Berman Brothers Radio Mix (best radio mix on the CDS to me) are better. So i'd like to point out some things. The Jonathan Peters Sound Factory Mix sounds more like his CLUB mixes, not like the sound factory ones - i think he named it wrong - it's not hard or anything but with great intro (check out Debelah Morgan - Dance With Me Jonathan Peters Club Mix). The second thing that doesn't match in my opinion is the Jonathan Peters Velvet Mix - now thats not a mix but a DUB - and more like a Sound Factory Dub to me (almost no vocals and is really a fast hard track). The CDS is really worth buying even after so many years. I love it. If u still didn't buy the CDS buy it used. You won't be sorry.
