From the Inside Flap
At the start of this brilliant new thriller, a young girl dies when she is caught in the crossfire of a shooting in the backstreets of South London. Andrea Chambers gets a phone call shortly afterwards. Her son Calvin has been arrested for the child's murder. Corporate lawyer Andrea, a former defense attorney, manages to free him, agreeing to defend a Yardie gang hit man.
She becomes embroiled in a case where corruption, drugs and violence are rife. It is impossible to trust those who are supposed to be upholding the law. And it is impossible for those who are upholding the law to do so without breaking it.
Gripping, gritty and frighteningly realistic,
Above the Law is a heart-pounding foray into the intersection of ordinary lives with the violent underworld of drug traffickers, gang competition and the police.
