Two words: Blue Buddha!,

This review is from: 13 Above the Night (Audio CD)
The chances of you just sort of picking up a TKK album out of nowhere is rather slim, so I'll sort of assume you know their sleazy, cheesy, industrial/techno/lounge/retro style. This CD is actually my favorite TKK album for them all, for one stupid reason: Blue Buddha! This song is crazily infectious, and yet also manages to cue riotous laughter among all my friends. "who's behind closed doors? Blue Buddha!" Became a call and response of sorts among all the buds when this album hit. You'll certainly never hear it spun at your local club, but the song is worthy of worship. This album seems to revel in the cheese-lounge factor more than their other work, but it's all done with a great sense of humour.

Though I like their earlier stuff more, this is a solid release from them, and "13 Above The Night" is liked the most by some fans. Roughly fitting into the techno-industrial genre, this album is full of distorted vocals, driving beats, horns, sex/drug lyrics, and anything else you can imagine. Plus you can dance to it. More like Lords Of Acid than Skinny Puppy. Each of their albums are different, but this one pleases like any of the others. It's perfect for a "Disko Fleshpot" who's ready to live the "Badlife".

This is some of the best mood music ever made,

3 Above is one of my favorite albums of all time. By strobelight, blacklight, or candlelight, this one rocks. The lyrics are dark and grainy (big surprise for TKK) but the general feel of this album is a lot more melodic than some of their other stuff. I know, I know, a lot of people will tell you that Kooler Than Jesus is the better album, but I have to disagree. 13 drew me into another world, just down on the other side of the street in that dark alley, and kept me there till the last song ended. Buy it.

You either LOVE My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult or you HATE them. There really is no middle ground. These guys/dolls have been around for a long time, and to say their music isn't mainstream would be stating the obvious. I bought the CD because it had THE mix of Blue Buddah I've been searching for forever. Other standouts are "Badlife," "China DeSade," and "Dementia 66." I still find their music very enjoyable and GA-ROOVIE! Not for everyone, mind you. But they are definitely my cup of tea.
Again, it's a shame there are no half-stars, because this CD is more 4-1/2 stars than 4!

Their most rounded album....,

Whereas most their other albums are heavy on either 'evilness' or 'sex', this sort of strikes a balance between the two. It's sort of a combination of the sounds of their two previous albums, "Confessions of a Knife" (evil), and Sexplosion! (sex, obviously), and as such combines the two strengths.Since I'm more into industrial as opposed to overly slow and mellow songs, the harder, industrial-ish songs on this are among my favorites. Delicate Terror, Electrical Soul Wish, Badlife, etc. So, if you enjoy dance music or industrial, you should really like this album. You might not like all of it, but those you like you'll really love.

All around best TKK cd,

Most people say this is the best Thrill Kill Kult album-- in which case I'm inclined to agree with them. Aside from Sexplosion or I See Good Spirits & I See Bad Spirits this is a masterpiece. It's dark, erotic, groovy, and powerful. My favorite songs include Savage Sexteen, Disko Fleshpot, Dirty Little Secrets... aw hell, they're all good really. Well, what else can I say besides that it's good... it's really good, it's not like the generic crap you hear on the radio, uh if you like anything on MTV or VH1 you probably won't like it.

Creative and funny, Funky, industrially sound oh and good dancing/driving music. Cool Beats that move well from track one to the end. A good idea to buy this release first along with hit and run holiday for the best of this band if your just getting into them.

The best of the 90's albums by TKK,

I personally am a fan of the more industrial sounding TKK stuff but i must admit, this album blew me away! This album is an excelent dark dance album. Though rather disco-esque at times this album should please most people with an ear for music. Hell, I'm 15 and my mom likes the song ELECTRICAL SOUL WISH, when her favorite musicians are DON HENLEY and the great ARETHA FRANKLIN. So buy it for the sake of this unsuccesful band.

TKK...... there's really no words 2 describe thier sound. They are in a realm of thier own and no one will ever be able 2 touch that artsy creativity. This album is extremely psychedelic-industrial with some of Groovie Mann's most adventurous lyrical work ever. "Badlife" is a slow dance groove with an undeniable catch. "Dimentia66".... that song is in a world of it's own... absolutely brialliant. "Blue Buddha" has a great bass line and seductive lyrics. I think this is one of thier best albums ever, and i can't see how any Kult follower could piss on it. U know.... if u dont like this album because it's not seriously hardcore industrial enough for you, then just shut your mouth.. no one wants 2 hear it. "Delicate Terror" and "Final Blindness" let u know that they have not lost thier dance roots and they never will, and that the best thing about TKK in the 1st place is that they are one of a kind... so love it and shake your [but] 2 this amazing art.

one of the music underrated,

works of alternative. this incorporates a handful of styles, effectively, and brings about a moving, catharsis-inducing work that if the kiddies would have taken the time to turn cobain off might have found a more creative outlet for their agnst.
