Finally, Pillar...has returned! This is one of the best-sounding rock-n-rap bands out there; so good, in fact, they scored themselves a 2001 Dove Award for Hard Music Album of the Year for this, their sophomore record. This is one of those CD's that grows a little more on me each time I hear it. You can tell Pillar love the Lord and aren't afraid to share. Lead hombre Rob Beckley's challenging, raise-your-hands rhymes flow like a river atop the boot-stomping riffs and beats, and break into sweet melodies along the way. Travis Jenkins' grinding guitar and Kalel's bass seem to move as one unit over Brad Noone's rampaging drum beats; the whole arrangement has a flawless delivery. This whole album blows away anything on the radio these days. It's got a way-positive message that just makes me want to shout, and you will too once you hear it. The best tracks, to me, are "All Day Everyday", "Open Your Eyes", and the beautiful last track, "Father", where Rob shows he can really sing. "Above" is a testament to just how far Christian music has come. You've waited too long already; click that Shopping Cart button!

To say Pillar can rock would be a complete understatement. Their style of music can best be compared as a Christian version of bands like Limp Biskit or Linkin' Park, only a notch better, in my opinion. My top 3 favorite songs on the CD are: Live For Him; You Should Know; and Something Real, but all the songs are GREAT. God has blessed with this band with an enormous talent, and it shows on the CD. BUY IT NOW!! (you won't regret it)

I just happened to stumble across this band by listening to one song on the radio "Live for Him". That hooked me and I tried the CD out. All I can say is that Pillar has blown me away. Their songs make you want to dance and jump around and the lyrics really mean something. I've heard bands before who rely on the music to draw an audience but it's truly talent when you can do that and have meaninful lyrics at the same time. Pillar is a must-have for any rock fan. They're far above the rest.

This album, their first on Forefront Records is just great, songs like Original Superman are just awesome, these guys are the sort of band you can listen to all the time and not really get sick of hearing them, I've only known about them since last year but since then I managed to get them to the Parachute Festival here in New Zealand where they were exceedingly well recieved, having promised they would come back the following year, to which they are. These guys have a really good sound - good use of guitar, bass and drums and followed up by really well written lyrics, Pillar are a really good solid rock band and a huge difference to the likes of Limp Bizkit where Pillar are actually good. The songs Live For Him, Above, Original Superman, Open Your Eyes and Reaching Out are well and truly my favourite tracks on what really is just an awesome album.
If you've heard these guys before and dont already own this one, get it, you wont be disapoointed, or even of you own any of the later albums, get this and see where they really kicked it off.

if you like rock music, or even if you think you don't, buy this cd. i can't remember ever buying a cd and liking every song on it. (audio adrenaline's "some kind of zombie" was very close) frome above to all day everyday to original superman (the best on the cd) this will keep your head bobbing and your toes tapping from start to finish. i read about these guys in the paper, so i checked out original superman on the net and i went out and got this cd within a couple of days. i hope they come to houston this summer. they love the Lord and they're not afraid to make it known, unlike some other "christian" bands out there. i can't wait until their next cd

When I first got this album, I didn't really get into it. But when I started really listening to it, I really started to LOVE it. The lyrics are really great because it talks a lot about sacrificing and giving your all to the LORD. The guitars are have a great crunchy sound with a lot of punchy bass. The Bass is very tight rhymically with the drums. But all three instruments just lock in together when they play. I love all the songs on the album except for "Something Real". I know there is a lot of Rap Metal acts, but Pillar provides great music with meaningful lyrics (assuming you're christian). I can't wait until their new one "FIREPROOF" comes out.

WOW!! A lot of my friends have given into the idea that Christian music falls into the mediocre in terms of musical ability or talent with the exception of a few artists who stand out such as DC Talk. However, I will have to say, along with friends of mine, that this group is exceptional. You know, DC Talk first started out with this whole concept of Rap, Rock, and Soul (I challenge anyone to find bands that did this before them including secular since most bands only went so far as the Rap and Rock part). Pillar shows us that they've taken this intricate weaving of styles and magnified it tenfold. The jams are truly awesome. The lyrics are bold and in your face. All I can say to these guys are 3 words: BRING US MORE!!
