Book Description

August 1, 1990
Above San Diego. This is the anchor of the west, a quiet metropolis that has learned to live in an enviornment of beauty without devouring it. In his Introduction, Neil Morgan invites us "to follow the city's meandering evolution from a Spanish pueblo to an insular, transplanted Midwestern town by the sea, to a Navy City, and on to its present rich diversity." Robert Cameron's lush photography shows that San Diego is of world class, and its surroundings are among the most gorgeous anywhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars great but outdated, October 20, 2006

Mark (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Above San Diego (Hardcover)
As much as I love San Diego (one of my favorite cities ever, favorite in California) I found this book way outdated. Copyrighted in 1990, things have really changed in 16 years! The book does have some great historic pictures as well as downtown but you can see all the modern skyscrapers are not there. I hope Mr. Cameron can update this along with Las Vegas. I know he is pretty old now so maybe someone else associated with Camereon & Co. can

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is great!, June 13, 2000
This review is from: Above San Diego (Hardcover)
I first saw this book at my mother-in-law's house and just loved it. I grew up in San Diego and it was fascinating to see the before and after photographs of places where I grew up. The book is full of great photographs and interesting historical text to go with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sun kissed San Diego, May 16, 2005
This review is from: Above San Diego (Hardcover)
Let's face it, it's hard to make this glorious city look bad, it just so beautiful, so it's really saying something when someone can make it look better! This is exactly what Cameron does, it's an amazing feat, San Diego never looked better. His pictures really capture the city and San Deigo never disappoints. Robert Cameron is such a talent, I own all of his books, they are all amazing in their own way. I highly recommend this to anyone with an appreciation of San Diego or just great photography; either way you won't be disappointed.
