The most comprehensive study of the Worldwide UFO Coverup,
By A Customer
This review is from: Above Top Secret: The Worldwide U.F.O. Cover-Up (Paperback)
The modern era of UFO's began in the skies over Europe, and the mysterious 'FOO' fighters reported by allied bomber crews in the closing days of WWII. The intelligence agencies of the allied powers were concerned about these mysterious glowing balls of light that would follow bombers on their runs. After the war, they could find no surviving Nazi scientist who would admit to knowledge of these craft.Timothy Good takes you on a whirlwind tour of the modern UFO history. He details the extensive campaign of dis-information put into place following the Roswell incident, and shows the attempts by various other world governments to cover up any information dealing with the phenominon. The primary motive for this cover-up appears to be one of fear, both of a collapse in law and order when the truth - that our governments cannot stop or protect us from invasion or abduction, and a fear also in the aliens themselves, and perhaps the beginnings of a subserviant alliance with them... I strongly reccommend Mr. Good's book to any serious researcher on the UFO dilemma. The book is very convincing, and will keep you awake at night, pondering the implications for us all.

Has to be the best book on UFOs there is.,
By FoxMulderr@aol.com (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Above Top Secret: The Worldwide U.F.O. Cover-Up (Paperback)
All of those who entertain the concept of a world wide UFO cover-up really owe something to Timothy Good. In this one of a kind book Good goes through files from the United States, Canada, all over Europe and the very contreversial MJ-12 documents to show that governments all around the world are secretly investigating unidentified flying objects and hiding the truth. Good's conclusions are based more on research as opposed to speculation unlike many other UFO books. Great for an introduction to UFOlogy as well as for the experienced UFO buff looking for something grounded in fact.

Good Compendium of Official Secrecy,

This review is from: Above Top Secret: The Worldwide U.F.O. Cover-Up (Paperback)
Timothy Good's 1988 ABOVE TOP SECRET is not a quick easy read, but it offers an unmatched pile of information for the skeptic. Nearly every researcher who has studied the UFO phenomenon has concluded that they are space craft operated by extraterrestrial biological entities, and Good is no exception.Good takes a special interest in what governments other than the USA are doing about the problem. He catalogues several instances where a government's rheteric is in conflict with its actions. There is an especially good and lengthy appendix with document after document from the world's governments, proving that despite their denials, they do take UFO sightings seriously. As a British investigator, Good details the intelligence services of the UK, and how they liason with those of America and also the KGB. Some of the best information lies in the exposure of secret government organizations and how they liason with ech other. You can almost create an org chart to follow the flow of information from the moment a witness makes his frantic phone call to the local authorities. Some of the individual sighting reports can safely be skipped, but as you get deeper into the report, you begin getting to the real meat of what makes this book valuable. Knock off a star for overlong and somewhat dry, and you are left with a four-star must read for the UFO buff.

A must read in the subject of ufo's and extraterrestrials,
By Alex (USA) - See all my reviews

Timothy Good is a known reasearcher in the field of UFO's. This book describes many cases and evidence that we have been being visited for a long time. The book is easy to read and the great majority of the cases presented are very detailed, including locations, names etc. Anybody reading this book would be at least puzzled and probably would be pressed to know even more about the subject.

This book is a superb introduction to UFOlogy,

This review is from: Above Top Secret: The Worldwide U.F.O. Cover-Up (Paperback)
This book is a great introduction to UFOlogy. If someone were only to have one book on the subject, this would be the one to buy. Tim Good's book has an enormous number of incidents, recounted in detail. This is the strength of the book and what makes it so valuable, the sheer comprehensiveness of it. The only weaknesses in this ambitious work are its somewhat obscure system of organization of the data, and the inclusion of material which has since been proven to be false, such as the interview with the purported former USAF fighter pilot who claimed that there was a special unit tasked to intercept and photograph UFOs in the 1950's. While there may have been such a unit, this poor fellow (identified with a pseudonym under his photograph in Good's book) has since confessed (after investigation revealed) that he was never a flight officer in the Air Force and never participated in such an interception unit, as detailed in the most recent edition of UFO Magazine on-line. Good also seems insufficiently skeptical of certain UFO shibboleths, such as the Majestic-12 documents which "just showed up" in L.A. film producer Jaimie Shindera's mail box one day. These and other failures to probe deeply enough into the material mar an otherwise impressive compendium of material. These flaws notwithstanding, this is an entertaining and informative book which I highly recommend to anyone with an interest in this admittedly odd area of human experience.

Encyclopedic, centered in pro-UFO belief,
By James Pierson (Lansdowne, PA USA) - See all my reviews

No one would ever characterize Timothy Good as being overly skeptical. In terms of research and analysis this is a liability. But in terms of writing a fascinating page-turner, it's an advantage. ABOVE TOP SECRET is a good, solid read -- never boring, constantly surprising, often amazing. It's an encyclopedia of incredible stories. So power down your critical faculties and just enjoy.

One of the best on this subject,

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject of UFOs and particularly for open-minded people who are undecided about it. It's great strength is it's comprehensive review of reports from all over the world (too often these type of books only deal with US or local incidents). It easily refutes 3 scepticisms about the UFO phenomena:1.That only crazies are eyewitnesses. 2.That military/intelligence forces around the world have investigated the phenomenon and found that there is nothing to it. 3.That governments are not hiding anything.

Good sets out to prove that we are, and have been, visited by UFO's for a long long time. Using witness testimony and other evidence. He claims that the government has known about this since at least 1947 and is keeping it from the general population for their own agenda. A pretty interesting book. He covers UFO sightings from all over the world as well as here in North America. You can also tell from reading this book that the author has done a lot of research into this subject.

This book is very well done. It is clear that Mr. Good is DEFINITELY biased in his pro-ufo beliefs, but he has gone to great lengths to in effect say, "Look at this. I believe this is the way things are, but you look at the evidence I have to present and decide for yourself". There is a lot of research that was done for ths book, and I was very impressed with some of the documents that he reproduced in the illustrations and the appendices. I have seen some of the originals, and have wondered how Mr. Good acquired access to them. Very highly recommended. Do not miss this!

A Mixed Bag- No Smoking Guns Here,
By Trent K. Rollow (Seal Beach, CA United States) - See all my reviews

Good delivers up some tempting morsels in a book that attempts to cover the government angle of the UFO controversy. The American Defense Intelligence Agency chapter is excellent, and so is the CIA and Iron Curtain countries coverage.Unfortunately, some of the other stuff seems composed of hearsay and wishful thinking: the NASA/Apollo sections in particular seem to be more suited to a made for TV movie than a serious discussion of government secrecy or disinformation activities. The Majestic 12 papers (the Rosewell "crash")in the appendix were pretty much proven to be fraudulent (traced to an Air Force intelligence operatrive's typewriter) even at the time this book was published. While I would recommend this book to the reader, I also recommend taking the contents with a grain of salt. |
