About the Author

Elliot D. Abravanel, M.D., is known as a founder of holistic medicine. He received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1969. For many years he served Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as head of medical staff and as Professor of Medicine at Maharishi European Research University, where he pursued reseearch on the relationship between consciousness and ideal health. In 1975 he opened a private medical practice in Beverly Hills, California, where he developed the Body Type System. He is the author of three books: Dr. Abravanel's Body Type Diet and Lifetime Nutrition Plan, Dr. Abravanel's Body Type Program for Health, Fitness and Nutrition, and Dr. Abravanel's Anti-Craving Weight Loss Diet, as well as numerous medical publications. He now divides his time between writing, lecturing, and research. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Weiyi Xu.

Elizabeth King Morrison is a writer and educator who specializes in the creation of individual health and nutrition programs. She received her B.A. from Swarthmore College and her M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. She is the author of two books on Transcendental Meditation in secondary education. She co-authored all three Body Type books with Dr. Abravanel, and has trained many health professionals in the Body Type System. She lives in Eureka, California, with her husband, the writer Ralph Morrison.

This book made me aware that caffeine, dairy and sugar were wreaking havoc on my pituitary gland, and producing symptoms that the doctor couldn't interpret beyond "food intolerances". When I followed this book, my back troubles disappeared, I found new strength after about a week, and could climb in the mountains again. Even though I haven't followed the book perfectly as to its diet, I have still had the knowledge I needed to put myself back into shape where the symptoms back off and I can function again. I can't help wondering how many people with who knows what kinds of symptoms would benefit from this book! My problem came from the pituitary gland - yours may come from gonads, adrenal, or thyroid. Great book.

Any Fad is what it sounds. Especially concerning your body (physiological and psychological) you Must apply an accredited professional source of education. I am 25 5'6.5 and 116 pretty much my whole life. I started reading this book at the age of 15. Calories and exercise or not just it. We all have hormones such as cortisol and insulin that greatly affect our weight. We all are not the same shape and including where the weight loss or gain is. This book is Effective for the long term. No short term can produce real results but damage. They are Band-Aid solutions that only stretch and worsen the cause, root issue at hand. If you want to learn, self apply your will, be patient, be rational, be balanced and attain effective results that last as long as you are willing to commit to a healthy life style get this book.

This book explains why different diets work for different people. We are built differently, and this book identifies which diet will work for you.

My mother and I went on two different diets, and after a couple of weeks, we had both lost weight. That was proof enough for me.
