get the tube instead of the pump,
By krtsphd (Providence, RI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07-Ounce Pump (Health and Beauty)
This new pump version of Abreva is HORIBBLE! There's no way to get a small amount no matter how gently or softly you press the button on top. It's either one huge glob (because the button went all the way down) or nothing. You just don't need that much product! Whoever designed this pump must have had one thing in mind: make the user dispense WAY more than he/she needs so that it empties faster and makes him/her buy more Abreva! Don't waste your money on this version no matter how good the bargain looks. Get the tube so you can control how much of the product comes out and so that you don't waste any of this admittedly expensive (but effective) product.

tube ointment is better,

I've used Abreva for years and thought I would give the pump a try. The product is much more difficult to use in this form than the small tube. The "ointment" coming out of the pump is too thin and watery and the pump mechanism does not work well causing you to waste a lot of product.

hate the pump with a passion,
This review is from: Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07-Ounce Pump (Health and Beauty)
Great medicine--ridiculous delivery. Even pointing it away from my face it splatters and I've gotten it in my eye. It is horribly wasteful -no one needs that much abreva, it takes a tiny amount to be affective. It has to be designed to make you go through it twice as fast. Do NOT buy this stupid thing, stick to the tube.

Pump is awful! Get the tube....,

The plastic pump is awful and very difficult to control the amount dispensed. Its also impossible to know how much is left until it simply does not work. The medication itself is good, just purchase it in the tube and not the pump.

Abreva works...this pump doesn't,

As many have stated the new pump dispenser for abreva is just NOT worth it.
Pros Hard container MAY withstand more impact if you have this in a purse or a tool bag. Cons THE PUMP SUCKS!!! There is no way to get a little out, which is all you need. The pump is hard to squirt and I usually end up with it everywhere. The nozzle of the pump is directly against the cap so it makes a mess inside if you don't clean the pump off after each use. Much bigger the the regular tube so if you are trying to be inconspicuous its not going to happen. So overall I would recommend Abreva but not this pump. If you are going to buy, by the tube!!

The Pump is Terrible,

I want to clarify that the product itself is five star rating; it's the best compared to other products that I've used in the past. However, my one star rating if for the pump - this pump system SHOULD BE DISCONTINUED because it does not work as they say or as it is portrayed on tv ads. It always pumps out more than needed which ends up being wasted, which ends up being used quicker, sending you to the store to buy another and it's not cheap. So DO NOT BUY THE PUMP version; you will have more control of how much you need by using the tube.

great product, pump sucks.,

Abreva works great. I feel my cold sore coming on which I get at least twice a year, and I start putting abreva on it right away before it has a chance to turn into an open sore and I end up not getting the open sore. Do not waste your money on the pump. Like another reader said it's horrible. They charge a lot of money and it totally sucks. I'm sure they have gotten complaints, but I'm sure they don't care. They make a lot of money that way.

The Abreva we ordered (2 pumps) were to expire in a couple of months when we received them. We would be in good shape through the holidays, but they'd last us a year if they didn't have such little shelf life left. Not such a good deal after all.Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07-Ounce Pump

Works for me; the earlier, the better,

This review is from: Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07-Ounce Pump (Health and Beauty)
I've used Abreva for years. It helps, no matter when I use it, but it works best if I use it as soon as I feel that "tingle" or "itch." Also, it helps to keep using it even after you don't feel pain. Stop too soon and the sore lasts longer.

Works for me every time,
By
This review is from: Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07-Ounce Pump (Health and Beauty)
I sometimes have cold sore outbreaks several times a year and used to be miserable for days. For me, Abreva relieves the pain and itching and I've definitely noticed that it shortens the time and stops the spreading. I've found it works best when I follow the directions exactly (washing hands before and after, washing the area first, using 5 times a day, rubbing the dose in thoroughly). I always have a tube on hand.
