4.0 out of 5 stars Good workout, easy to follow
This is a good chest and ab workout. You do not get bored because the instructor alternates between sets of chest work and sets of ab work. The only problem with the workout is the instructor does not count out all of the reps out loud. This makes it harder to keep the same pace as the instructor because you cannot look at the tv while doing pushups. This is not...

2.0 out of 5 stars Only for those already in shape
If you have a gut, even a small one, you will find some of the Abs excercises impossible. Plain and simple, my gut gets in the way of me being able to do the excercises in proper form. I'm not out of shape by any stretch, my wife's just a good cook. My Dr. says I'm 10 pounds overweight, but all of it's in the gut. I think the video will be great to maintain my gut,...

This is not really a big issue though. Overall, this is a very good fitness video.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good workout, June 10, 2000

This is a very challenging workout. You do not get bored because it is relatively short and it alternates between sets of ab work and sets of chest work. The only very minor complaint I have with the video is that the instructor does not count all of the reps out loud. This is a problem when you are doing the chest work such as pushups and you cannot look at the tv in order to keep pace with the instructor. After a few times doing the video you can figure out the pace pretty good though.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Workout, September 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Abs & Chest of Steel [VHS] (VHS Tape)
While I rarely do this workout anymore, each time I do, I'm amazed at how effective it is. If you're a beginner, this is for you. If you're advanced, you can do it too. (Just don't laugh when he says you'll need dumbbells "at least eight pounds." Grab your 45, 50, 60 lb dumbbells if you're advanced and just follow along, though you will need to drop down to a lower weight for tricep sequence) Perron's instruction here is very clear. He walks you through what you're supposed to do, and prompts you from time to time to pull in your stomach and keep your wrists steady. His one flaw is that at one point here he tells you he's not going to finish counting along with you. Compare that to Gilad Janklowicz who will tell you "Only eight more" and then counts down and then tricks you into doing another set of eight while enjoying it. I'm not sure why one viewer said the ab exercises are too tough for beginners, you just have to keep doing this until you get used to it, like any routine. This is a very effective and quick workout for your pecs, tris, and abs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good workout, good video, March 24, 1999

Nice the way abs and chest are combined in one video, only complaint is all the ads in the begining of the video making it a pain in the but to just rewind and start over. You have to FF through all the opening ads and credits. Not a beginer video.

This video is fun and works in weeks. The instructor is funny and knows how to get the job done. Some workouts are tough, but after awhile you get the hang of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Combo of Chest/Abs Workout, May 3, 1999

I recommend this video for anyone serious on developing their abs and chest. Some of the exercises are difficult, but worth it. The instructor is slightly robotic, but he appears to know his stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Abs Workout, July 23, 2003
This review is from: Abs & Chest of Steel [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a really great video. I wasn't able to keep up with the instructor the first time I did it, but after just a few times, I am now able to keep up. I will agree with the other reviewer that this may not be a video for someone who has a large gut because the exercises would be very difficult. But with that said, if you want to lose the gut, building muscle aids in burning fat.

All in all, I think this video is well worth the money. It really is a great abs and chest workout and it's easy to understand Michael's instructions.

Also, understand that with any exercise program, there is no quick, easy way to tone and build muscle. It takes time and discipline, in both diet and exercise. So don't give up, okay?

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Workout - short and to the point!, July 10, 2003

All you need is a mat, and two dumbbells (min. 8 lbs each) to work this program. Michael is easy to follow and he demonstrates the proper form and technique through each movement. Once you make it through the advertisments at the beginning of the video (why do they have these?) the workout lasts about 30 minutes including warm up and cool down. It's a great workout for all fitness levels - you won't feel left out if you are a beginner, and the exercises are easily modified to accomodate the more advanced. Michael tells you everything you might need to know. I've seen many workout tapes for men, and this is one of the best.

I'm not out of shape by any stretch, my wife's just a good cook. My Dr. says I'm 10 pounds overweight, but all of it's in the gut. I think the video will be great to maintain my gut, once I flatten it, but it's not for a beginner. As far as the chest part goes, the video just does several sets of pushups and 1 dumbell workout. Nothing exciting there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never ending challenge!, August 29, 2007
This review is from: Abs & Chest of Steel [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I've been doing Michael Perrons routine for about 5 years. his exercises along with Pilates are the only method that has ever worked for me with Great results. i never feel as though the routines have become stale and boring in fact i can't seem to reach a peak in these exercises where i still don't feel sort of challenged and like i stated in the beginning it's been 5 YEARS!
I'd like to reach Micheal Perron and tell him this but i can't find him on line anywhere. It would be great if Mr Perron makes a part 2 of this video but perform the exercises on the "Bean" or Swiss exercise ball to make it even more challenging!
