Enjoyed this short storey about Charlie Fox set after an earthquake, living in New Zealand was cool to read about the search and research side of this storey, and of course keeping tabs on Charlie's latest ventures, looking forward to the next installment

I read this in a mystery compilation called "Thrilling Thirteen:13 Mysteries/Thrillers" bought on Amazon.com.

Fascinating story. Charlie is a security expert hired to find out what happened to her predecessor and also to provide security to members of a search and rescue team, trying to rescue or at least recover people trapped in a disastrous earth quake. She finds much mystery, plus courage, murder, rape, theft and even some redemption as she works her way into the team. The characters are rounded , not perfect but most, will risk their lives to save another trapped. Frightening descriptions of what is like to be trapped under rubble and the aftershocks that threaten. Enough bravery, mystery, and villainy to keep my attention focused. Good Read.

I came across this book in the Thrilling Thirteen box set and read all 13 in order. Thus finding this book as one of my favorite's from the box set and to then go on and easily add this author as to be on my watch list is quite an issue for me.

The story is that good. The characters that engaging, the action packs that much punch and I would love to read more by this author. I most certainly recommend this book to all lovers of the genre.

3.5 stars. Billed as a novella, this book has the same pacing as the other Charlie Fox stories until it abruptly ends with most but not all of the loose ends tied up in an epilog. Unlike the other books in the series this is set in a mythical city which has suffered a major earthquake. It is not in the US. The one person in the book who is a local speaks English and has an US/English name. It is warm and is an unrefueled C-130 flight from NY.

I like Zoe Sharp's character development and fast moving action. Some people actually have a conscience. The story always has a few surprises.

I love the story and the way it is written. It flows and captures you in it's telling so much so that I usually do not put it down until I am on the last page.
