This review is from: The Absence of Tears: Book Two (Paperback)
The books "The Absence of Tears" book one and two by Ashton Knight were among the best I have ever read. With a cross between Robert Jordan and Stephen King the book kept me engrossed from beginning to end. You feel the pain, hurt, love, and passion of all of the characters. You fall fast for the endearing qualities of the main character, Gavin Kingston, and come to love the characters that you had at first hated.
Ashton takes you on a ride of pure adrenaline as he opens up the world of Gavin Kingston and friends (and also enemies). This is a story of coming of age, of learning to deal with overwhelming responsibilities, and dark powers that both frighten and excite the young hero. A story of fighting for survival, not just for himself but for all mankind. A struggle of coming to grips with the knowledge that only he can lead the fight that will save the world while at the same time risk losing those he loves the most.
Ashton Knight is brilliant and original. "The Absence of Tears" is definitely worth reading. I can't wait to see what is next for this young author. I hope we see more of Gavin.
