Most of what there is to say about this edition of the Blackest Night is covered in the other reviews. However there is one very important piece of information that I have not seen and that is the fact that this Absolute Edition includes the Prologue to the Blackest Night: Issue # 43. This was a key reason for me not buying this edition at first, the description does not say it is included even though it is incredibly important in setting up the story arc. Thankfully is actually in included so every piece that really matters is in this book. Yes I know that issue 49 is not here, but that issue is kind of a tangent from the main ordeal and while I with John Stewart was more prominent then he is (that issue was all about him and Xanshi) I feel like it is not a huge lose that is was not included and would have made things a bit more confusing overall for people who are not aware of his entire background. All in all though this is probably the best Absolute Edition DC has done yet and it is easily one of the greatest comic arcs in recent years. This will be an arc that people recommend 50 years from now.

Absolute Blackest Night is one of the best materials from DC Comics. Not only the story, simply astonishing, but the material as well: from de gorgeus slipcase to the art on both cover and dustjacket, this is one of a kind!

Seeing the work of Ivan Reis and Doug Mahnke on the Absolute format is a treat to our eyes. Big and bold scenes and splash pages makes you dive into the story.

Congratulations to DC! This was my first Absolute edition, and now I'm only waiting for a dropping price on Sinestro Corps War! And congratulations to Amazon. My book came pristine!

I was thinking this would have every single issue to do with the Blackest Night story compiled together into one book but it's like an overview of important events. I had skimmed through some of the other blackest night books that come in separate volumes and I was thinking that this massive and very expensive book was all of them together but there are some distinct parts of the Blackest Night story that are not in this book. I felt rather cheated considering the price tag for this one.
However the book is beautiful itself and has amazing artwork that is larger than the standard comic book size. The Blackest Night is a great story and if you want to get the overall story this is a good book but like I said it's missing a lot of smaller details of the story.

This is the ABSOLUTE best way to read Blackest Night! Geoff Johns has created a a highly anticipated zombie story that does not disappoint!

Pros:
-The story is an absolute blockbuster! There's tons of things happening all over the universe and much more here on Earth
-The characters are interesting. Aside from GL and Flash, the main characters are not as widely known making it a fun and new read. But all the popular heroes still play big roles!

Cons:
-Some context may be required as the story builds off a lot of history within the DC universe
-If you're not a fan of GL or familiar with its mythos, it may be a little confusing at first

All in all, this was a great read combined with beautiful eyegasms.

This is a really great omnibus with excellent artwork and storyline. The plot is great and there is a ton of action. All the major story arcs are gathered here in Absolute Blackest Night. The only flaw is that the tie in comics are not included. Maybe they will make a 2nd omnibus. 5/5. This omnibus has set the bar high for others to follow.

For any DC fan, this is a must. This is not a book for the uninitiated - if you don't know the characters, most of this will be a blur. The story leaves quite a bit to be desired - it's basically a very long setup to a "he steps out of the shower and it turns out all of last season was just a dream" kind of ending - but it's a comic book. (I've recently read a few comics from the seventies, and compared to those this is Dostoevsky.) It's everything else that makes this a five star book. Unbelievable art, excellent writing, a bazillion living and dead superheroes, many extras, and extremely high quality materials. Highly recommended.

Awesome, really good story that involves a very large range of characters from the dc universe, many characters returning turning after being gone for some time
