A Guitarist's Dream!!!!, May 24, 2005
This review is from: Absolute Essentials of Music Theory for Guitar (Paperback)
I've played guitar for about 4 years now, and I must say that I've always known that I should learn music theory, but have always had problems learning it. I own lots of music theory books, but I never could make my way through them. They were all very boring and didn't show what music theory actually means to me as guitarist.
I was attracted to this book based on its title. I thought: "Could this finally be a music theory book that I could read all the way through, and learn how to use theory as a guitarist?" The book totally lived up to my expectations and went beyond. THIS BOOK IS AWESOME! I really enjoyed working my way through it, and yes I went through the whole book. The book is very well written, and really easy to understand. What I really like is the fact that it doesn't just talk about music theory, it actually shows you how to apply it. There are tons of examples with neck diagrams and tab, so it's easy to apply everything. And there is a quiz (with answers!) at the end of each chapter. If you are thinking that you really should learn some music theory, then this is totally the way to go. You won't be disappointed.

Fantastic Book!!!, December 2, 2005
This review is from: Absolute Essentials of Music Theory for Guitar (Paperback)
I haven't had time to go through the whole book yet, but here's what I can say...
I now understand where all the notes on the fretboard are, and they are taught in such a way that it was easy to understand. I can now put my fingers down anywhere on the guitar and know immediately what note I am playing. I have learned the patterns to where all the different notes fall on each string, and it is not confusing at all. Learning something as simple as that has helped me understand and make sense of things that were otherwise very confusing.
I also like the way that the scales have been explained. Learning what the major and minor scales are and how to apply them has also helped tremendously.
This book has taking me to the next level in my ability to play the guitar.
The book is fantastic and I can't wait until I get more time to finish it off.

A bit heavy..., October 21, 2005
This review is from: Absolute Essentials of Music Theory for Guitar (Paperback)
I read the other reviews here and bought it. That is actually a book full of good stuff and it can take the us very far in music theory. But the point is that in the beginning you turn a page and voila, you must learn the entire fretboard in order to continue... Wow learning the fretboard can take up to a couple of months easily..Not that im not willing to learn but if it is necessary to learn the fretboard, why they spent only two pages on this ? But once you learned it, prepare yourself for an heavy load of useful knowledge !

FINALLY A THEORY BOOK US GUITARISTS CAN USE!, April 22, 2005
This review is from: Absolute Essentials of Music Theory for Guitar (Paperback)
This book is great! I am half way through and I have already learned tons of stuff.
What I really like is that it's totally written for the guitar. Everything is related to the guitar with neck diagrams and tab so it's really easy to understand. It has total application to the guitar. It covers all the basics, and goes beyond. It makes learning music theory fun.

reviews planted by the author!, August 14, 2009
This review is from: Absolute Essentials of Music Theory for Guitar (Paperback)
As of the time that I wrote this all but one of the reviews (4 out of 5)were obviously planted by the author.
They were all reviewed years ago and 3 of the 4 had only that one review under their belt and the 4th had 5 books reviewed, all by this author and all 5 stars!
Only the one review of 4 stars seemed legitimate as he had many other reviews under his belt.
This practice disgusts me!
BEWARE!
