About Kent Sporting Goods Company
Over 50 years ago, the Kent Sporting Goods Company was founded as a subsidiary of Eagle Rubber Company, a manufacturer of football gear, helmets, and uniforms, based in Batesville, Mississippi. In 1959, the company moved to New London, Ohio. Some of the first products to come off the manufacturing line were U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets, golf bags, bowling bags, and outdoor lawn games and accessories.

In 1981, under new ownership, the Kent brand became a major factor in the Type I kapok commercial vest market and Type II commodity market. About a year later, a small company in Celina, Ohio, with a brand niche in water skis, ropes, and vests, approached Kent and asked them to manufacture their ski vests. This was the beginning of Kent's quest to be a major player in the water sports, marine, and PFD (personal flotation device) industry.

Starting in 2001, the shareholders of Kent started several corporations that acquired the assets of other popular water sports corporations and their respective brands. Some of these include Connelly, CWB, HO, Hyperlite, O'Brien, Liquid Force, Straight Line, and Wakekite, all specializing in a full line of high-action recreational water sports products including wakeboards, kneeboards, kiteboards, towable tubes, skis, ropes, and life jackets. These products can be found at most specialty shops, pro shops, and big box retailers.

In 2009, Kent introduced two other innovative brands to the marketplace under the Absolute Outdoor corporation marketed as Full Throttle and Onyx. Full Throttle is a premium water sports brand featuring life jackets, tubes, wakeboards, and kneeboards for today's active lifestyles. Onyx is an outdoor recreation brand consisting of rainwear, paddling vests, and inflatable PFDs for fishing and hunting, all designed to keep you outdoors longer.

Today, Kent and its controlled group of companies offer a multi-brand portfolio of water sports and marine products. These companies and brands provide innovative, well-designed, functional gear for the water sports and outdoor enthusiasts looking to satisfy their active lifestyle and water or outdoor activities.

Kent Sporting Goods Company is located in New London, Ohio.

These are great cheap life jackets to comply with the law that you must have a life jacket in the boat for each person. And they'll save your life in an emergency. We permanently keep four of these in a small boat where we don't intend to wear them.

Note, however, that these life jackets are not the type you want to buy if you plan to wear them regularly. They're bulky and uncomfortable.

If you want a life jacket to wear on or in the water, get one of the vest styles. There are tons out there, they range in cost from about $20 to $100 or more, and many are designed specifically for certain activities (water skiing, canoeing, sailing, etc.). We have several of these for different activities, too. Take a look at any of the following:

Stearns Adult General Purpose Life Vest
Stearns Gatsby Canoe & Kayak Vest
Body Glove Women's Formula USCG Neoprene Life Jacket

Just as advertised. Obey the law without going bankrupt. These things are kind of big, but if you're just messing around in the water where lifejackets are required, you can't beat the cheap price.

Basic standars vest to keep authorities off your ass while you are fishing. I bought it for my 14-year-old nephew primarily because I wanted him to look like a fool. Worked really well!

These are very basic life jackets. They are small. I would only purchase for bigger children or very small adults. Not a good option for regular adults.

Standard coast guard jacket. I wore it once to test while using my canoe. Quite comfy and easy to put on. Now, I just carry it as precaution in my boat. It makes a nice cushion too. It provides a nice head/neck rest if you are in a lying down position. You will be happy with it.

It's not pretty or stylish in anyway, nor does it feel all that great on, but it is better than a Class III life preserver and you won't find any other life preservers at $6. These life preservers are NOT meant for offshore. They are a class II, so the basically just appease the law that there must be 1 life preserver for each person aboard your vessel.

Abide by the law and buy these guys with out spending a fortune. They are cheaper than a ticket for not having one, that's for sure!

These are good cheap life jackets that fulfill the Coastguard requirement for each occupant of your boat. I would not use these if you are going to wear your life jacket for any amount of time as they are not comfortable.

Thought I was buying a 3x large floating device but it was the same size as the XL ones made by Stearns that are carried at Walmart for $7.
