5.0 out of 5 stars Great if you need to keep some life jackets in the boat
These are great cheap life jackets to comply with the law that you must have a life jacket in the boat for each person. And they'll save your life in an emergency. We permanently keep four of these in a small boat where we don't intend to wear them.

Note, however, that these life jackets are not the type you want to buy if you plan to wear them regularly...

These are great cheap life jackets to comply with the law that you must have a life jacket in the boat for each person. And they'll save your life in an emergency. We permanently keep four of these in a small boat where we don't intend to wear them.

Note, however, that these life jackets are not the type you want to buy if you plan to wear them regularly. They're bulky and uncomfortable.

If you want a life jacket to wear on or in the water, get one of the vest styles. There are tons out there, they range in cost from about $20 to $100 or more, and many are designed specifically for certain activities (water skiing, canoeing, sailing, etc.). We have several of these for different activities, too. Take a look at any of the following:

Stearns Adult General Purpose Life Vest
Stearns Gatsby Canoe & Kayak Vest
Body Glove Women's Formula USCG Neoprene Life Jacket

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick, cheap solution to a simple problem, July 14, 2006

Just as advertised. Obey the law without going bankrupt. These things are kind of big, but if you're just messing around in the water where lifejackets are required, you can't beat the cheap price.

It's not pretty or stylish in anyway, nor does it feel all that great on, but it is better than a Class III life preserver and you won't find any other life preservers at $6. These life preservers are NOT meant for offshore. They are a class II, so the basically just appease the law that there must be 1 life preserver for each person aboard your vessel.
Abide by the law and buy these guys with out spending a fortune. They are cheaper than a ticket for not having one, that's for sure!

I needed cheap but functional life jackets to throw into the bottom of my canoe as required by law. These were exactly what I was looking for, they are the generic, cheap life jackets that you find at any boat rental establishment.

3.0 out of 5 stars they technically ARE life jackets i guess, March 19, 2010

bought an inflatable raft and went on vacation. needed a life jacket for everyone on board. the largest of these would only float with about 50lbs on them, maybe. but they do count as life jackets for those of us who take our rafts out on more than 2 feet of water, but i would learn to swim before i would rely on one of these life jackets.

3.0 out of 5 stars The quality is fine, but..., July 3, 2011

I don't like writing bad reviews, but people should know. The yellow one with the white chest strap does NOT come with the white chest strap. It's the same as the orange. The main reason for my 3 stars is that I have written to the company 3 TIMES to ask for compensation, because they charge $2 more for the yellow for no reason. That was from 3 weeks ago and they are not able to respond. I feel neglected, and annoyed that they false advertise the yellow one. All I wanted was that chest strap because I've used these before and they are more secure with the strap. Anyway, it's a fine vest, and works with a backpack, but I wouldn't want to work with this company again.
