Is it Possible to Improve on Perfection?,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Absolute Promethea Book Two (Hardcover)
Why yes, it totally is possible.
Disclaimer: This review is for the Absolute edition of the book. You can find (better written) reviews of the Promethea story elsewhere. Looks like DC and the Absolute publishers paid attention to the gripes people posted on Book 1. The slipcase has an elaborate cover (even moreso than Book 1), with improved ink so there are fewer flakes at corners and edges. The cover itself, by J.H. Williams, wraps around with wonderful contrast of glossy and matte printing. My copy of the book was a little difficult to lay flat. It took a few more readings to loosen the glue. But the pictures inside are fantastic. The larger scale makes the artwork even more jaw-dropping. The extra content is nice, but not really my focus on purchasing absolutes. That being said, seeing J.H. Williams' sketches are still miles better than finished artwork of many comic book artists in the industry. I wonder what DC will do with the the last issue for the final Absolute volume in this series? No spoilers, but those that have read Promethea know exactly what I mean.

The best working with the best,
By Philip Sandifer (Gainesville, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Absolute Promethea Book Two (Hardcover)
Promethea is the best writer in comics, Alan Moore, working with the best artist in comics, J.H. Williams III, on a project that is unmistakably a labor of love for Moore. His magical and creative philosophy here get their most clear and thorough explanation with jaw-droppingly beautiful art. And, in this format, you get it with gorgeous, oversized art, giving this the treatment a book like this deserves.
This is a book that any lover of comics simply has to own. Period. |
