You must read this., April 6, 2009
This review is from: Absolute Ronin (Hardcover)
This is the most beautiful edition of one of the most mind-blowing works in the history of comics. As the introduction essay says, Ronin kicked it all off--there would't be Sandman, or Watchmen, etc., etc., without this visionary work.
Miller writes and draws like a man completely liberated from all imaginative constraints. The artwork doesn't explode, it crawls and claws and squirts and writhes off the pages. The colors, by Lynn Varley, are magic--every page has its own color story, its own palette of mood-setting tones. The dialogue is so real, so exactly how people speak...And the story is just mind-blowing.
This whole book takes you to another place, a mental experience that is totally unique. I got chills reading this Absolute edition of a masterwork that I have read numerous times over the course of 25 years.
We'll still be reading this in 100 years.

Beautiful book, wierd story, November 21, 2008
This review is from: Absolute Ronin (Hardcover)
I will first say that I will not give away any story details of this graphic novel, so as to not ruin an experience for readers new to the book. I will only say that the story is....rather strange. Instead, I am going to review about the product itself. When you get it, you will notice that the book is in a cardboard slip. The slip itself is lavishly decorated with art from the Ronin story on the front and back. Inside, you will find the book itself, hardbound style, with a dust jacket that too is decorated with art from the story. This whole product is well worth its price, as the whole thing is set up as a collector's edition, enough to satisfy a person who loves reading graphic novels and wants to pick up this book in a special edition. Also included, at the end of the story, is an art gallery showing interesting art concepts, sketches, and reviews of Ronin from newspaper clippings. To close with my review, I can tell you that if you like a graphic novel with action in it, then get this. If you can get past its wierd story elements, you can enjoy the fight scenes with the ronin in this story, BUT don't expect the whole story to be exactly similar to that of Frank Miller's "300" or "Sin City", as this came BEFORE his two famous books.

Ultimate .... Absolute ... Miller, October 21, 2011
This review is from: Absolute Ronin (Hardcover)
Few years back i bought paperback version of this comics as a gift to my friend. Back then it really get me, the story, overall graphics layout/slides/frames separation ... I wonder why there are two versions. So I ordered the more expensive hard-covered one, what a surprise when it arrived (at time ;)). Big, really BIG(almost A3 format) comics came out from the box, from its own cover-box, good printing on good paper. The story it self ... // well better to not spoil anything from it ;-). It is just made for collectors and fans of Frank Miller's comics.
TBH it is more like THE art than A comics novel.
