Absolute Must Have,
By
This review is from: Absolute Trance: Biggest Dance-Party Anthems (Audio CD)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That says it all in the title, this cd is a must have for trance fans, especially ones of vocal trance since that is the main genre of this cd. There are many all time classics on here such as Derbs "In Africa," ATB's "Let U Go (Wippenburg Rmx.)," and Paul Van Dyk's "Were Alive." My favorite on this cd though has to be Me & My's "Fly High." I have never heard this song anywhere else and I have also never heard another song by them so that makes it even better, but regardless it is a very catchy toon that most vocal trance fans will appreciate.

I've had this CD for a good 4 years. I was just skiming the isles of CD Warehouse when I saw this CD. I thought, "Okay, it's pretty cheap, so I'll buy it". When I got home, I put it into my CD player and I was happy to find that the tracks were great. Yeah, we've heard them a few times before, but the great thing about trance is that you never get sick of the songs. I bought this 4 years ago and I still listen to it. It's me and my friend Bailey's CD. We take it wherever we go because we know if no other CD fits our personalities better, it's Absolute Trance. It's one of those CD's that you have good memories about, and a good time with.

When I shop for CDs I don't just look for the latest 'trance smash hits', I look for unique quality. Most of the tracks on here are or once were 'trance smash hits'. We have heard them many times before and we are getting a bit tired of them. Some of them kinda fit the cliche of typical trance tunes. However, there is this one excellent track on this CD that I feel stands alone amongst all the other tracks. Track number 4, as the first reviewer mentioned, is absolutely wonderful. Like the first reviewer, I have not come across this track in any other compilations. In fact, this is the first time I have heard it. I think this is a track that can go on forever. I suppose track number 4 ('Remember' by Rachel Starr), saves it an extra star on my scale... so 2 stars for what would have been a 1.

I think this is a great compilation. Although most of the songs are kind of run-of-the mill, just buying the cd for song #4, Rachael Starr's 'Remember' is worth it. I couldnt find this song anywhere else but this cd. Its awesome. I also like 'in africa'. A must have!

When my highschool took a class trip to Washington D.C., this guy on my bus had a bunch of techno/trance/etc and he's real big on this genre so I trusted him when he popped this into my cd player, saying "you'll like this, trust me." Now I know why they call it trance. I was placed in this state of being where I was just consumed by the music, and for an hour and a half I just sat there, watching the road signs go by. I had never listned to much techno before, and since then I have found other trance cds which I consider better than this. But absolute trance still holds a place in my heart for ushering me into this type of music. My personal favorites are numbers 3, 9, and 13. (although the guy i mentioned earlier thinks 9 is the worst song, but I enjoyed the fast paced and high toned beat in the middle)

im not much of a trance know-all, but i know what i like and when i bought this cd on a whim....well, lets just say that i was hoping for a lot better. most all of these songs are mixed with vocals and so many of them sound so much the same. i just didnt like it at all. but, you know, thats just because its not my style....though it could be yours.

Overall this is a decent selection of some good (mostly vocal) trance songs of the past year or two. I'm not a fan of some track 11 (what where they thinking?) Stay away if you like trance w/out vocals (like tiesto and others) because there are only a few tracks that strike that chord. It is mixed ok, and the song lineup is solid and can definitely be listened to straight through. Tracks 4 and 12 are my favorites on first listen. The cd is full of songs most trance listeners have probably heard here or there. I wish I would have located some of these tracks before. Overall, this is a solid trance cd that deserves a look.

More pop than trance,

I bought this CD for "Freefall" featuring Jan Johnston, being a fan of her work with Paul Oakenfold. While that song is good, overall it (and the rest of this album) doesn't really seem very trance-like. The majority of the songs definitely are geared towards the more vocal and pop-like aspects of trance, often crossing the boundary so much I wouldn't even classify them as trance any more.Even so, if the songs were good I would have given this album a higher rating. I don't expect every trance CD to be Oakenfold, Sasha & Digweed, or Christopher Lawrence. Unfortunately it's mostly a run-of-the-mill collection of songs; only a couple of are worth a listen, and except for "Freefall", they're usually on other and better trance compilation albums. Skip this. |
