This is an excellent compilation of Odetta's best stuff. The collection covers her years with Tradition Records to Vanguard Records. This will satisfy both the soulful, gospel fan, as well as as some folk legends such as Bob Dylan.

This contains ome of Odetta's best. If you want to hear one of the greates voices of all time, get this, and any other, Odetta CD. Even when singing folk Odetta sings the blues. This CD contains classic Odetta. Fall in love with Odetta all over or for the first ime. I have no doubt that Odetta will be remembered as one of the gratest singers people don't know. Buy This CD.

Odetta is one of the greatest and this CD is a gem. I downloaded it in MP3 format but I'll be buying her on CD. Her voice deserves that sort of respect.

Odetta is a force of nature, like the wind- something her strong voice reminds me of. Hugely influential (from Joans Baez and Armatrading, Bob Dylan to Tracy Chapman), she's a total original. And that voice... I particularly love the haunting "Chilly Winds", "Gallows Tree", "Lowlands", "Shame and Scandal", "Another Man Done Gone" and "'Buked and Scorn". Her guitar playing is definitely going to be influencing my own. Whether she's playing blues, folk, or gospel, she's masterful at it. Marvel at this natural wonder.

Great collection, very diverse, showcases unique amazing soulfulness of Odetta's vocals. "All the Pretty Horses" is haunting. Love it. My kids don't get it though.
