Lisa Haley Fans will be disappointed, April 19, 2009
This review is from: Absolutely Live! (Audio CD)
The first time I saw Lisa Haley was at a Cajun Festival in CA in 1998 and I became a big fan. We met, talked a bit and she autographed her latest CD for me. I have all of her CDs. I bought this one with the idea that, being live and all, there'd be a little more to it than just a simple rehash of previously recorded stuff with talking in between. I was wrong. Except for "Mr. Leonard", which is my favorite of hers, they're all pretty much the same old stuff. The concert was short, apparently, because I can play this whole CD on my 40-minute drive home. My 1964 Beach Boys Concert album was just a wee bit shorter in duration so with modern technology I kind of expected a little more. The liner notes are weak on photos of the show and the players are not identified in their photo. I would have preferred a DVD that shows all of the energy Lisa and the Zydecats put into their shows, a sample of which you can get off of her web site. Maybe next time, 'k Lisa?
