Steven Lawson has given the Christian church an excellent exposition of I John in this engaging book. Understanding that the Holy Spirit's regenerating work in a person's life is powerfully transforming, Lawson focuses on nine "vital signs" of the new birth. There is absolutely no compromise of the historic Protestant doctrine of "sola fide" (salvation through faith alone), for Lawson understands what the Reformers taught, namely that the faith which justifies also sanctifies and that we are saved by faith alone, but not by a faith that is alone. Lawson is totally in harmony with "sola fide." But more importantly, he is in harmony with Scripture. This book is filled with exposition of specific passages of Scripture, especially the book of I John. No true believer risks a loss of assurance from reading this book. And for those with a sham profession or an ungrounded assurance, this book may be the very means God will use to bring them to true faith in Jesus Christ. I highly recommend this book, without reservation.

Hey there,
I have not read this book yet, but I love the preaching of Steve Lawson. This looks like a great book.

I don't know how to contact the person that wrote the "product description" and the "About the Author" section, but I wanted to let you know that Steve Lawson IS NOT a pastor for Dauphin Way Baptist Church. He's actually the Senior Pastor at Christ Fellowship Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama.
Thanks. :)

If you have ever wondered if you could know for Gospel sure about Salvation, this book will answer that question hands down, and give you a burden for those who think they are saved, yet have no fruit. I've been looking for this information for years. Thank you Lord.

Excellent read. More Christians need to read this book for encouragement in their faith, Christian walk, and the true Word of God. Too many Christians today want to be fed the comforts of this life and that their sins are forgiven giving them the license to sin without giving it a second thought. On the other hand there are Christians who aren't sure of their salvation and are confused by the licentiousness of other Christians and Pastors. If this is something you struggle with, I highly recommend it for clarity of the Word and what it really means to follow Christ.
