Absolutely a fir-ju-well

This album starts where El Torero and a fir-ju well leave off. Every song is solid. Every song is thoughtful. Although I wish they had enclosed the lyrics with the album, I've figured them out by repeated listening on my headset. I love the tunes, but the though provoking words reveal deep insights into American culture in the new millenia. I can't figure out why these guys haven't been signed by one of the major record companies.

Well, it seems the M.O. of this album is to give each track an unpredictable, acoustic 10-30 second opening, before launching into some youthful and well-crafted dixie/bluesy/westerny rock. It gets the job done, though the insatiable critic in me feels like struggles to be more than the sum of its parts. Tracks 1 and 5 are my top picks.

Evidently this band now goes by the name 'Gringo Starr', proving that they really can not pick a stage name to save their lives.

If you're looking for new work by them, they changed their name to "Gringo Star" four years ago and have two or three CD's under that name. Go get 'em.
