And please for your own good get "Absolutes".
Constance Mazza
The addition of Sam West as the drummer to the band was a great decision, as the drumming was more interesting and complex than it was on Friction.

Stavesacre has a unique sound and this album--musically and lyrically--is challenging and profound.

I purchased several hundreds of dollars worth of music in the 1990s and most of it is somewhere in a landfill today.

This is on a completely different level. Stavesacre has a unique sound and this album--musically and lyrically--is challenging and profound. All their albums are excellent and worth getting but this one and Speakeasy contain a lot of their best stuff.

I'm a huge Stavesacre fan, and this cd is a major reason why. It's hard hitting throughout the entire album. The Wither songs are slow, but very interesting. I can't say enough about Mark Salomon with regards to his lyrics. This is a great album and should be purchased by any Stavesacre fan.

I was able to see Stavesacre at a live show in Irvine, CA where I purchased their second album 'Absolutes' directly from them. In fact, Mark sold it to me. He's a strange guy. Stavesacre is a powerful live act, by the way, and their 'live from deep ellum' CD demonstrates it. Anyway, when I popped Absolutes into the CD player on my way home from the show, I was taken from the first note. The songs were great and the sound is tighter than the sound they had on Friction. This is not to say that Friction is lesser of an album than Absolutes, but you could hear their growth as a band. The addition of Sam West as the drummer to the band was a great decision, as the drumming was more interesting and complex than it was on Friction. One reviewer says that this was their last great album because Jeff Bellew left after this one. As a matter of fact, Jeff was still around as songs for Speakeasy, my favorite of the Stavesacre albums, was being written. I was at another live show of theirs when they introduced the songs "Freefall" and "Disquiet" which are on Speakeasy, and yes, Jeff was playing guitar at that show and continued to play with Stavesacre for a couple of months before leaving the band for more important priorities. But I digress. The main point of this review is that I strongly recommend purchasing this album if you have not. It is sure to satisfy.

This for me was the penultimate Stavesacre release. Friction was raw and awesome but, lacked a little maturity. Don't get me wrong because I love Friction. This album just happened to come my way just when I needed it to.
The lyrical content of this release is a monster. This album helped me through the darkest hours of my life and managed to say everything, that I could never have put into words. Their next releases never seemed to impact me spiritually/musically in the same way again. Thank God for Absolutes.

Stavesacre is just the band that I have been waiting for. Absolutes shows the integrity of Stavesacre's music and combines it with uncompromisingly great lyrics. Christian rock at its finest. With the addition of Sam on the drums, Absolutes is more mature musically and lyrically as well. When you are fed up with the contemporary christian music scene and you want to just rock out, you better get on the Stavesacre bandwagon because they are the best thing since...you fill in the blank.

I own and have enjoyed tracks on all of their albums, but for me this album stands a bit above the rest lyrically.

I was really impressed with this CD I was expecting hardcore, which I can't figure out why why this type of music is so popular in Christ Metal, yes I said "METAL" and not "Hard Music", I guess that's the nice way for the industry too water down this part of the Christian faith. Enough whining this cd truly kicks strong vocals and strong musicianship. I thought the guitar could have been more up front with some soloing. This is my first Stavesacre album it definitely want be the last! Still can't figure out the comparasions to Tool, well maybe, but not exactly.

probably the greatest album ever made. seriously. combining arguably, the best lyrics with melodic, driving music. mark's voice powers this ride through passionate hardcore, most likened to tool but definitely stands on it's own. jeff's guitar work mixed with sam's drumming allows for some serious listening pleasure without failing to mention the stand-alone creativeness of dirk's bass playing. all-in-all, a fantastic buy. you won't find a better written album. mark's lyrics are cutting, real and passionate. what more could you want?
