In her latest novella, LJ Deleon weaves a heartfelt tale between two tragic heroes from her world of the Warriors for Light. Fae princess, Allana, stolen at birth and forced to suffer at the hands of the Dark Lord now seeks the daughters hidden from her since their birth. Her path intersects the battle-scarred and soul-tortured druid, Lucan, from book one. For Lucan, life holds only the final fulfillment of his responsibilities before he ends the misery of a life without everyone he has ever loved. Both characters are so intent on their personal missions, a distraction from the emotional pain they can't combat, that they almost bypass each other in the night. Almost--because fate has determined that these two wronged people are destined to right each other.

This is a lovely, moving story about two damaged souls, who not only help heal each other, but grow in the short space of this book to become individuals of strength and value to everyone around them. Dreams they had both given up on long ago.

I enjoyed Allana for her sweet and gentle temperament. As a healer, she can't quell the impulse to help those in need. And like ying to her yang, Lucan's druid abilities, somewhat unused given his soldier roll for the war against the Dark, leap forward to seek a path to save his mate and help heal himself.

The first two books in the series were fast paced, each unique in their own fashion. Absolution hits that mark again, with a story that is true to the mystical world Ms. DeLeon has built, and yet unique in its gentle message of hope and restitution between two magical beings borne of the need to serve and protect.

The love story is well developed and the finale surges past heart stopping moments to provide that great `ahh' feeling. The secondary characters are wonderfully entertaining, with the reappearance of my favorite gargoyle, Fritz. As well as the addition of a new demon--fiend or friend--you decide. I was also glad to read in the author's forecast at the story's end that there are several more Warrior for Light stories scheduled for 2011.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Story! May 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am sooooo glad the third book in this series came out. I know I'm greedy but, it's such a well written series I can't wait to find out what happens next. In this book we meet someone who's been lost. She's found but has a lot to contend with. The world's a mess. In steps her (my) dream man and the sparks fly. In the mean time, points (body counts) are wracking up on both sides. It's a nail biter to the wire. Excellent story, extremely well written and definitely recommended for your library.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Love Story January 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
L.J. DeLeon took my image of the paranormal and spun it on its axis. In her sweet and enchanting novella Absolution, readers will be delighted to find a supernatural world filled with exciting creatures and an oh-so-sexy story. In DeLeon's magical world there's never a dull moment as she twines a tale of adventure, true love, hope, and redemption. The author takes us on a whirlwind journey of sacrifice that will leave you weak-kneed and hot for more. At first I was skeptical, unsure of where this story would lead me over the course of just a few hundred pages. Nevertheless, soon after I started I found myself engrossed in the characters, the plot, and the mystery and thinking to myself, "why haven't I discovered her novellas before?"

Our main characters, Lucan and Allana, are woven together by a bond neither of them expected but both craved. Each is riddled with their own self-doubt, tortured pasts, and agendas, desperately searching for someone or something to save them. Over the course of the novel I enjoyed peeking into their lives and observing them as they came to terms with their prospective pasts in order to find their way to each other. Allana had a gentle yet courageous demeanor. As a healer her words flowed from the page like a melody, even and rhythmic, in a sing-song dance. It was beautifully written and part of the reason I fell in love with this story. The other yummy reason rests with Lucan, a Druid with a tear-jerking past. He is first and foremost a warrior, a mighty protector on the verge of self destruction. Throughout the novel we see Lucan's touching transformation. It might make you melt; it will definitely make you swoon. And when he and Allana finally manage to come together, you can count on being swept away by their tender romance.

Overall, Absolution is a novella that will get you excited about love. It's an enjoyable read you won't even realize is over until you've reached the last page and are secretly wishing there was more. With its mixture of adventure, mystery, secrets, battles, and steamy love scenes, Absolution has something every paranormal fan can and should adore. My only complaint is that I did not read the two previous novels Warriors Rise and Dragon Child. It was a little jolting at first trying to sort out the characters and creatures, but once I understood the gist of the back story, I couldn't have put this book down if I tried.
