Features & Benefits
Made of a unique material called PVA (Poly Vinyl Alcohol), The Absorber is vastly superior to a terrycloth towel and leather chamois. A uniform, sponge-like pore structure enhances capillary action, giving The Absorber drying capabilities no other product can match. Besides being the best automobile drying tool in the market, The Absorber has endless uses that include: cooling your skin in the summer or after a workout, and drying your dog! With proper care The Absorber lasts for years and can be stored moist and ready to use in its handy tube.
Soft – Easy on your hands, easy on your car.
Won’t scratch and safe to use on all finishes – Protect your investment.
Resistant to Mold & Mildew – with proper care the Absorber lasts for years.
Machine washable – Reusing The Absorber is great for the environment.
Handy storage tube – for perfect storage of your Absorber at home or on the go.
Available in six colors: Tan, Blue, Aqua, Purple, Neon Yellow and Red.
Ideal for vehicles, boats, personal drying, dogs, household chores and more!
Before first use, rinse with warm water or in the washing machine with other towels of similar colors. We recommend you use liquid detergent and warm water. Do not use fabric softener or bleach. Do not dry in the dryer.
After use, rinse the Absorber well, wring out, and place back in tube damp. The Absorber’s anti-mold and mildew technology will prevent rotting and extend the life of the product.
If you allow your Absorber to air dry, it will become stiff – but don’t worry! Simply re-hydrate it in warm water and your Absorber will spring back to life and be ready to use.
Routine washing is highly recommended. If you repeatedly place a soiled Absorber in its tube, it will still work, but may acquire an odor or grow mildew.
Personal technique may vary, but for larger surfaces (hood of a car, hull of a boat) try laying The Absorber flat and dragging it across. Over time you will find your own methods that work best and be amazed at how much time you saved using The Absorber.
Many Athletes Prefer The Absorber
Fun Fact-Many Olympic swimmers and divers use The Absorber to dry off between heats.
Dries Anything Faster and Easier
Although our products are designed for automotive appearance care, we (and our customers) have also found them useful for a wide range of applications. The Absorber, our most universal product, can be used for virtually any task that requires drying water from a surface. Metal, chrome, aluminum, steel, fiberglass, fur, skin -- the list goes on. Here is a partial list of applications for our incredibly versatile line of cleaning and drying products.
Olympic divers have relied on the Absorber to dry off between heats, so we’re certain it will do a gold medal job on your car or truck. After you’ve washed the exterior of your car, simply glide the Absorber over the wet surface, and watch as its porous Poly Vinyl Alcohol material draws droplets and hard water spots up, leaving a streak-free finish.
For those in the yachting and boating world, the phrase ''Don’t leave the dock without it' certainly applies to The Absorber. Handy for fast and thorough wipe-downs of dew, spills, splashes and swimmers, The Absorber is used professionally and recreationally on lakes and oceans throughout the world.
The Absorber is your handy at-home helper for drying tubs, tile, showers and fixtures; as well as wiping up kitchen spills.
The next time your dog gets a bath, gets caught in the rain or goes for a swim, use The Absorber for drying and turn a chore into an experience. The Absorber can also help cool your dog on a hot day. You’ll love The Absorber because it dries lightening fast, fur won’t stick to it and you can throw it right in the wash. Don’t just dry or cool your pet, pamper your pet – without destroying your expensive towels!

We're also familiar with this kind of product in Japan, where it's called a "gum towel."
I bought two actually, one for her and one for me to use on my bicycles--thinking it would be something like a super absorbant chamois rather than a gum towel. It's certainly super absorbant, but doesn't have the chamois quality I would need to, say, polish my bike frames. That is to say it's more sticky than soft, more like a piece of foam rubber or neoprene than a cloth.
So if I just hosed down the bike while cleaning and wanted to get on with the next steps of polishing and relubing, this towel is a great way to dry the bike when it's neither hot nor dry enough of a day for the bike to dry out on it's own in a fair amount of time.
It really draws the water out too, from every knook and cranny, so no need to use DW-40 before lubing my nice clean parts.
My wife uses ours for everything from picking up spills to quickly drying wet clothing that can't go in the dryer. If you wash a sweater for example, it's best to roll it up in the Absorber before laying it out to dry, as this will cut your drying time to at least half and make it less of a hazard that the sweater will get out of shape.
We use my far more grungy one as you might use a wet vac. It actually does a better job than a wet vac though.
Add that I've used several gum towels in Japan, mostly for swimming, and this is by far the thickest one I've used--therefore more absorbant. And at 27" x 17" it's big enough to be used as a bath towel without having to ring it out over and over again.Read more ›
- works better than chamois in absorbing water.
- does not produce streaks when drying cars - Spot free!
- I cut it to half and quarter sizes - makes it great for the kitchen tops, sink and bathroom
- works great for kitchen spills
- available almost everywhere
- cheaper than chamois
-You have to store it moist in the canister or it will dry stiff as a cardboard. (Dip it on water and it is good to go again).
-Storing it moist promotes growth of bacteria and micro-organism. Forget about using it on your body as a towel or drying your plates, pots and utensils.
After watching the silly "ShamWow" infomercial once or twice I developed the desire to purchase a chamois like product. My first attempt was with the previously mentioned "--Wow" which really left a lot to be desired. Quite frankly, it was crap! Once I was burned by the hype, I figured I'd try a different approach, I'd do some research. (novel idea) Upon hitting up Amazon I found that this one always got high reviews and people seemed to be saying, "yep, it's the one!". So I bought it and I haven't been disappointed. It works like a chamois, period. Get it a little damp, use it to suck up liquids, squeeze, repeat. It gets the job done.
If you want something that acts exactly like a REAL lambskin chamois that's not a REAL lambskin chamois, this is the product for you. Just buy it and be happy.
I remember swim team kids having chamois in Korea that they used to dry off with and this cloth does an excellent job of that. The pool, the beach or as a sweat rag, this chamois can handle anything. I take mine whenever I travel and use it as a bath towel and I never have to worry about how sanitary towels are.
When it gets too dirty, all you have to do is throw it in the washing machine and all the dirt gets cleaned off. Remembering to store it wet and in its' tube goes a long way toward having it ready to use.
One more thing, no matter what it says, it can indeed get moldy. No matter what, DO NOT store this in a dark place. First the smell arrives, then the spots and before you know it, you have an absorber that has mildew damage and while it still works, it wont last as long.
Overall, this is a great product and I will continue to buy them til they are no longer in production.
