The author presents the principles involved in AA, GFAA, ICP-AES, and ICP-MS in a clear and concise manner and provides self-assessment questions so readers can measure their understanding of the various subjects as they are presented. The author avoids unnecessary details in describing instrumentation while maintaining crystal clarity about how the systems work. Typical is the description of the Echelle spectrometer which could not have been easier to understand. The diagrams supported by concise narratives on distinctly uncluttered pages can hardly be improved upon. If you are looking for a good introduction to this subject you need look no further.
