This review is from: Abstract Expressionism and Other Modern Works: The Muriel Kallis Steinberg Newman Collection in The Metropolitan Museum of Art (Hardcover)
This book is a catalogue for the newly-acquired Muriel Kallis Newman collection of abstract expressionist works at the Met in NY. Some beautiful illustrations and enlightening explanations of seminal works (especially by De Kooning and Pollock) make this a valuable addition to the literature on this major artistic movement that dominated the American scene in the 1950's. The introduction is an interesting interview of the collector herself, who explains how she got acquainted with most of the artists she collected at a time when almost no one was paying attention to them.
