Amazon.com Review
Each page of this tiny hardcover book (it measures 7 1/2 by 4 3/4 inches) presents one of 69 details of a single abstract painting by German artist Gerhard Richter. Richter photographed the details head-on, thus compelling viewers to look at each of the details as a new painting, a whole unto itself. Each fragment fills an entire page; blank pages are inserted between the details. Each of these new paintings could be considered a candidate for further examination, cleverly forcing viewers to adjust and reexamine their ways of seeing.
