Great reel at a great price,

This reel is my 3rd of this series of spinning reels. The other 2 I own have been used in fresh and salt water. Been having them for a couple of years now and they work as good today as the day I bought them. Don't play that ball bearing game. This one has 4 and it seems to be more than enough. I think they stop making this model, so if your looking for a smoothe reel with a smoothe drag and a finish that is salt resistant with a great price, you found it with the Abu Garcia 174.

a saltwater reel for durability,

I bought this reel for durability because it is designed for saltwater applications but even with that in mind it is size and weight comparable to a freshwater reel at 10.5 oz it is easy to fish all day with it. And I matched it with a shimano voltaeus rod which holds up to all the hype. I would recommend this combo to anyone salt or fresh water fishing will be fun.
