Frankly, haven't owned an Abu Garcia reel since the days of the old 5500-5600 Ambassadeurs but, based on price and reviews on other websites, thought I would give the Revo S a try. I own several right-hand Shimano and Quantum reels, all good, but arthritis in my left wrist has made hook-setting very painful. Rather than using spinning reels, I decided to try a left-hand bait cast reel and chose the Revo. A little awkward at first, I still cast with my right hand and had to remember not to shift to my left hand to retrieve. After setting braking system (just the one knob on the Revo S model), I let fly with my first cast. The line literally flew off the reel and with absolutely no bird nest! Amazingly lightweight and smooth. I'm a "simple is better" kind of guy and this reel is everything I want and need.

This is the second Revo that I've purchased. I liked the first one so much that I bought a second to replace a perfectly good reel on another outfit that I use a lot for inshore fishing. The Revo casts great and the drag--this little reel could stop a truck. I'm a recent convert to using a left hand baitcasting reel. A friend has been using one for years, and now that I've tried it, I've found it a great labor saver fishing inshore - especially the Calico Bass.

The reel out of the box and mounted on a fish pole feels nice. The reel was bought in December and living in Michigan it is not the time to fish so the reel will not get the true test till about May but just putting line backing on the reel it is smooth and is easy to handle, at this point I would recommend the reel to anyone.
