This book is excellent. It is very specific: a book to teach you how to use Reiki to change your core beliefs about abundance and lack. It is NOT a book designed to teach you about Reiki itself. Reiki cannot be learned from a book (Diane Stein's teachings notwithstanding, see my Amazon.com review of her book.) It IS a book to teach those who are already Reiki practitioners to use Reiki to change their lives.

All too many of us carry negative beliefs about money and our right to abundance. Many of us were taught that money is "bad", that only those who are not spiritual will have abundance. What nonsense! Spirit wishes us to live life with abundance, it is our birthright (see Lee Carroll's Kryon books for more info on this topic.) Horan's book provides a step-by-step program which, if followed, will disolve blockages in your life and allow the natural abundance of the universe to flow through it.

I followed the program, and the changes in my life were amazing. Not overnight, but substantial nonetheless. The most important part was the change in my mental attitude, and how my life flowed from that. If you are already a Reiki practitioner who wants to change their life, buy this book! If you're interested in learning more about Reiki, find a good Master/Teacher in your area and seek training from them. A teacher is vital, you cannot learn it alone. But once learned, the changes in your life will astound you! I have been praticing Reiki since 1994, and have been a traditionally trained Master/Teacher since 1998. Yes, this book has been written by a Reiki Master, but the focus is more on clearing the subconscious of your limiting beliefs about abundance and energy... There is not a lot of information specifically on Reiki, but instead it uses Reiki as an additional method to help the process of clearing. If you are looking for good information about how to experience a more fulfilling life, then this book is very good. If you are looking mostly for Reiki information, then try 'Essential Reiki' by Diane Stein. Another reviewer here has pointed out what they believe to be 'faults' of this book, but these only make up a tiny portion of the book and are merely a viewpoint - can you really expect every sentence in an entire book to agree with your own thoughts? The author also makes it immediately obvious that this is her second book and is NOT specifically about learning Reiki. Having myself taught Reiki to students in over 20 countries and so therefore having an idea of what is actually useful on the Path, I can honestly say that this is a worthwhile addition to any collection.

In my opinion, this book is a must have for all reiki practitioners (and actually all energy workers as well), and is written in such a way that non reiki people can get huge benefit from it. Even the "feel" of the energy of this book is wonderful and lush. I think this also would be an excellent book for people to do in a study group together. Be prepared to buy more than one copy of this book if you ever lend it out to friends...they might not want to give it back! :)

This book is really not about Reiki specifically. It's more like John Randolph Price's book (The Abundance Book). Daily exercises are given which relate to each chakra of the body. These are repeated for 21 days and then you switch to affirmations for 21 days. While I don't do as well with affirmations, I found the first half of the book to be fabulous. The sections where you talk about or write about your feelings in areas corresponding to the 7 chakras was powerful for me. You begin to understand yourself and envision yourself transcending your old limitations.

Essentially what happens is that you are asked to meditate on a theme and talk it out (preferably out loud though I did occassionally write it out when I was not in a position to do the exercises aloud). So you'll talk about wisdom or money and tell yourself all the reasons why you don't or can't have it. Then you shift your energy by talking about why you want it and how you want it. When you get out all of your negative thoughts in this way, it makes it easier for your mind to relax when you are going into the positive things. You can actually allow yourself to visualize or declare what you want without some inner voice issuing a challenge because all of your doubts and fears have already been aired out.

You can combine this with Reiki if you are a practitioner, but you don't have to be a Reiki practitioner to use the book. Though it is called Abundance through Reiki, it does not focus on the symbols or hand positions but focuses on the idea of Reiki as a universal force which we tap into when we are drawing abundance into our lives.

If you are looking for a book which gives you a step by step reiki treatment with symbols or hand positions, this isn't it. You'd probably do better to check out a book by Walter Lubeck, Frank Arjava Petter or the like. While I haven't seen them write a specific abundance technique, they have techniques for clearing negative thought patterns, for emotional healing, and for general manifesting which can easily be applied to the issue of Abundance and Prosperity. These books will give you thoroughly detailed (albeit sometimes very complicated) techniques to follow.

Preliminary review:

The system is fairly straite forward in concept but is quite complicated in application.

My experiance in spiritual practice has taught me that the more complicated (externaly encumbered) a practice is, the slower the return is in realising its potential or real benifit & I am not one who requires instant gratification.

IMHO, the usefull content of this publication can be presented in 4-5 pages - without all of the opinions or retotic. KISS works!

I have not practiced this process to completion yet, ergo; the 'preliminary review,' so this posting could be way out of line on my part.

Paula Horan did a fantastic job with this book. In fact, I bought 2 of them, one for me and one to lend out. This books speaks to me and it will speak to anyone whether they be a Reiki practitioner or not. It is amazing the wealth of information in this wonderful, awesome book!! It has raised my enthusiasm and expectations for wonderful things to come into my life. I have already accomplished much with this book and I am not through with it yet. The way this book makes me feel is something I cannot even describe it is so wonderful. Every page is a wonder and I truly feel this book to be a miracle for me. It is working its magic on me with every beautiful word I read. If you want to know how to live your life to the fullest and get the most out of it then this book is for you. This book will truly transform your life for the better. Thank you Paula Horan!!!! You've changed my life for the better.

This book has VERY little to do with Reiki (Pronounced as Ray Key). This book lacks the symbols used in Reiki. This book lacks instructions for passing attunements. This book continues to perpetuate two Reiki myths. a. The 21day cleansing process b. Mikao Usui (The discoverer of Reiki was a Christian.) The cleansing process varies in length from individual to individual. You can reduce the cleansing process after a Reiki attunement from weeks to days by drinking more water, getting more rest after the attunement, and giving yourself Reiki treatments. Mikao Usui was searching for the type of healing practised by Buddha, Christ, Mohammed, and others. However; from reliable information. I have learned that Dr. Usui was a buddhist. Last Nitpick: Ms. Horan is a traditionalist Reiki Practitioner, ie a person should wait three years before receiving the third degree Reiki attunement. There is a very good reason for waiting 2 months or so between attunements because it takes time for the body to adjust to the increased flow of energy, but to wait three years is excessive in my opinion. I hold a Master/Teacher certificate for the Usui and Tibetan forms of Reiki, and am a member of the GRMA (Global Reiki Masters Asociation) If you have questions or comments about Reiki contact me by E-Mail.
