5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful giveaway Testament
I have purchased several of these inexpensive New Testaments to give away, both to friends and to strangers I've had brief evangelistic conversations with. The NLT version is very understandable and impacting. It is perfect for someone who hasn't read the Bible much because they just couldn't relate to the old English of the KJV. It contains some footnotes, study helps,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad Translation of Jesus' Words
The NLT translation seems to change the meaning of some of the scriptures. It is NOT COOL to be changing the words of THE SON OF GOD. That is very dangerous. The first error I found was in Mathew 5:6. From the New King James reads "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after Rigtheousness, for they shall be filled." The NLT changes the word "Righteousness" to...

It contains some footnotes, study helps, and discussions such as "From Religion to Relationship," "Prayer--the Great Conversation," "Choosing Joy and Finding Peace," and "How to Know Jesus Personally." The print is a bit small, but I would highly recommend this Bible.

The NLT translation seems to change the meaning of some of the scriptures. It is NOT COOL to be changing the words of THE SON OF GOD. That is very dangerous. The first error I found was in Mathew 5:6. From the New King James reads "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after Rigtheousness, for they shall be filled." The NLT changes the word "Righteousness" to "Justice". These are totally different concepts. From blueletterbible.org Strongs concordance for the Greek word "Dikaiosune" - 1) in a broad sense: state of him who is as he ought to be, righteousness, the condition acceptable to God a) the doctrine concerning the way in which man may attain a state approved of God b) integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking feeling, and acting 2) in a narrower sense, justice or the virtue which gives each his due." In my opinion, justice denotes passing judgement. Whereas righteousness is doing the things that God wants us to do like having lovingkindness, loving God and people, mercy, forgiveness, helping people, givings, etc... I threw 10 of these I order out of 14 in the recycle bin because I didnt want to share in changing Jesus' words or in misleading people.
