I had been a fan of Kryptonite U-Locks since I bought my first bike. They have been great but with the newer designs, it seems that they concentrate more on being bigger and heavier.
I have two of the New York Standard and one of the NYFU.
I had wished that there would a version with the Standard's thickness, but in smaller form for the mini, and of course Kryptonite didn't have one.
Then a friend bought the Abus Mini and got me intrigued, and when I researched it, it has a 16mm round special hardened steel shackle!!!
My prayer was answered, so I ordered one immediately. I was surprised at how line this thing was when I got it. I thought that I'd carry one of the New York Standard and one of the Abus Mini, but that didn't last long. I ordered another Abus Mini, and now I carry two of these for less weight than 1 NYFU alone. Sweet!
The other reviewer was correct in stating that there is no mount included with the lock, but I didn't mind, because I always cary mine on my rack or in my backpack anyways, out of habit. Imagine if I had installed the mounts for two Kryptonite Standards on my bike? How heavy would that have made my bike?

I recently purchased this lock because it appears to be the most robust u-lock on the market, except maybe the Kryptonite NYC u-lock. I compared this to two other locks.

vs. OnGuard PitBull MINI DT 5008 Bicycle U-Lock and Extra Security Cable:

-both are dual-shackle locks (lock on both sides)
-the OG is 2.0 lbs while the Abus is 2.2 lbs
-the Abus is 2-3 mm thicker (the u bar)
-the inside width of the Abus is about 1/4" less than that of the OG, but both fit around a meter (tested on an SF meter, typically thicker than most meters)
-the depth of the Abus is about 3/16" less than the OG
-the operation and finish of the Abus is generally nicer
-the Abus does not have a frame mount, but in my experience those are almost useless anyway

vs. Kryptonite Kryptolok Series 2 Mini Bicycle U-Lock (3.25):

-Kryptonite is single shackle (big disadvantage in my book)
-both weigh the same (2.2 lbs)
-the Abus is 2-3 mm thicker
-the width of the Abus is about 1/8" less than Krypto
-the depth of he Abus is about 1 1/2" less than the Krypto (only important if you have a very thick frame, though you can always lock to the rear triangle instead)

I'm definitely happy with the Abus so far and will be using it with a 4' cable to secure both wheels of my bike as well. I do wish it was slightly wider to allow for locking to larger poles, but that is an issue with all smaller U locks

UPDATE: I have been using this lock for a couple months now and it is awesome.

I've locked my bike up all over with this lock, from downtown LA to Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, even down to Miami. I've left it overnight all over NYC and, combined with good wheel locking nuts (check out Pinhead Solid Axle Bicycle Wheel Lock), this lock has never failed me after years of use.

I picked this lock because it is smaller, which supposedly makes it harder to break into. On top of that, this lock is lighter than the similar version by Kryptonite. The other benefit is that these locks aren't as popular in the US, so it's less likely that people will have a matching key for it or know how to break it. Oh, and it has a locking mechanism on both sides of the lock, so if one end is compromised, the other will still hold. So far so good. Sometimes it's hard to lock up with such a small lock, but I think it's worth the hassle for better protection and something a little lighter.

I did a lot of research on bike locking when I bought my first bike and chose the Abus Mini over other contenders for the following reasons:

- small size = more resistant to leverage attacks
- thicker shackle than the comparable Kryptonite Evolution Mini and OnGuard Bulldog Mini
- double bolted = a thief needs to cut through the shackle twice

You can get beefier locks from Abus as well as Kryptonite, but they are heavier and much more expensive, and since there is no lock that can withstand a very determined thief, I decided it wasn't worth the extra expense and weight.

It's also a very attractive looking lock (YMMV though), with sleek, scratch-resistant matte black rubber covering the shackle, and a smooth locking mechanism -- no jiggling or jerking needed, unlike what I've seen with some of the OnGuard locks.

There is no mounting hardware, but, having read many stories about flimsy mounting hardware breaking off in the middle of a bike ride, I rather think that's a good thing. Besides, it's actually small enough to lock around the frame while riding without swinging wildly and compromising the bike's stability.

I use the Sheldon method to lock the bike, coupled with a 10mm cable to secure the front wheel and seat. I haven't had the bike or the lock for very long, so cannot make any impressive claims such as "I locked my bike up overnight for a full week outside a train station!" or anything like that (and that would be a silly, fate-tempting thing to do, anyway), but with all the research I did, I'm confident that this lock was the best choice.

Update, May 2015: Have had this lock for 10 months now and still liking it. No thefts, locking mechanism still smooth as butter.
