5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, August 16, 2009
This review is from: Abyssal (Audio CD)
This cd is another great work from Envy. If you haven't heard about this band its sound its like screamo and hardcore, they sucessfully combine agressions and peaceful melodies.

The first Song "A Road of Winds the Water Builds" its length is about 10 minutes, it first of starts calm but suddenly it explodes with some nice guitar riffs and some screams, Then half way the song it changes into some calm bridge and almost stop the whole song only remaining some guitar notes, then the other guitar appear in the background, and the drums start with the bass building up the climax of the song.

The next song "All That's Left Has Gone to Sleep" its probably the most hardcore on Abyssal and the fastest. It starts agressive, but its not the agressive way of just playing riffs to be loud, they perfectly connect each riff with each other.

"Thousand Scars" is my favorite song on the album. It starts with the guitars playing some calm riffs, then it appears the drums and bass to complete this nice intro. Later on minute almost 2 it stops and then starts the screams and the guitar change into some riff that you just think this is has to be the climax. Then by minute 3 it starts the real climax of the song, starts very calm with the guitars and builds up slowly with the drums and some singing, suddenly the beat just starts going faster until the point where everything explodes into the last chorus.

"Fading Vision" Is the last song, totally peaceful and calm without screams. The perfect end for the cd if you heard the songs in the order of the cd.

If you do know Envy, and like them, you have to get this it's another awesome album.

If you do not know Envy then I recommend you search on youtube or similar pages for online listening and decide whether you like them or not, if you do then support them by buying the cd.

Also sorry if there are errors in my writing and sorry I could not describe very well the songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short album but epic album, June 4, 2009
This review is from: Abyssal (Audio CD)
I just got finished writing a review for the envy DVD which is fantastic by the way, but I was also very surprised this album does not have a review yet.

This album has four tracks, the first three being a mix between the heavy parts of envy and the post rock elements. The last track is sort of like a poem with ambient background music. This band blends hardcore and post rock perfectly. I think i saw another reviewer compare them to the mix between botch and explosions in the sky, which i would agree with.

If you've liked any other envy album do not hesitate with this one. If you have not heard anything by envy i don't see why you shouldn't start with this album. GREAT STUFF!!
