Book Description

April 1996
Over the last two decades, AC/DC has carved out a unique niche in the rock world. Thanks to their stubborn refusal to alter their aggressive, in-your-face style that has been their stock in trade, they have emerged as one of the essential cornerstones of contemporary hard rock. Frank, humorous, and accurate, this full-blooded biography takes a look this tenacious Australian quintet. of photos.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

For Huxley, as for the rest of AC/DC's fandom, the word heavy in the subtitle is by no means negative. Trends and critical acclaim, Huxley shows, mean less than nothing to the Australian rockers, and the fact that heavy as a term of approval for music, experience, or phenomena has died out in general parlance alters the band's commitment to the sound of old-fashioned (i.e., 1970s) bludgeon rock not a whit. Like its musical antithesis, the Grateful Dead, AC/DC deserves respect and even homage for single-minded persistence and endurance. Having survived the death by misadventure of frontman Bon Scot (who was originally suspected by his bandmates of being too old for the sound), AC/DC has continued to sell records and pack concert venues. Huxley's examination of the band's career is never boring or indulgent. Like the best AC/DC music, it's short, fast, and fraught with salacious appeal. Turn it up. Mike Tribby

5.0 out of 5 stars Rockin A, April 23, 2001
This review is from: Ac/Dc: The World's Heaviest Rock (Paperback)
Angus, Brian & and the boys from the DC have spent their careers hewing pure uncompromising rock from the Mountain from whence all rock doth spew. Toiling nonstop they form the rock into blistering music that is like a blunt mallet crashing into your girating skull. This book chronicals the long careers of the lads who feel just as comfortable rocking out as hanging about in the stroh with their mates. This book will assault you like taking dope, speed, coke, two shots of bourbon and afterword you will say right I'm ready.
