I was very pleasantly surprised at just how good this software turned out to be. It's easy to use, but still very functional for coming up with home interior designs. Although it is distributed by Activion, it is really based on the same software as the "Better Homes & Gardens Home Design" program.

Having the ablity to see a decorating idea on the computer does make a difference when designing your home. The software enabled me to adjust my designs based on the difference of what I thought something would look like in my minds eye, and how it will actually look in my home, via the 3D recreation. Best $20 I spent in a long time.

I have not gotten to the "Design Challenge" game part of the program. I've been having too much fun re-doing my own house.

Has anyone tried the Trading Spaces Design Companion by Activision? I bought it to help me with decorating my new home. I've only just begun to play with the program, but so far so good! It really does help to put things into perspective. I love the fact that I am able to lay out the floor plan to my home, place our funiture and fixtures into the floor plan, and then play with the colour / texture options to see whether we would like the transformation or not. It sure beats experimenting with our real home - it's less costly this way, and we get to try out all sorts of things to see what our home would look like if we changed things this way and that.

I wanted to use this with my work in interior design but was disappointed. It would be fine for someone who enjoys designing as a hobby or just learning.

This is a nice piece of software that is used daily for our building and decorating business. Easy to use and gives the customers quick answers to "how it will look". I will never be without this software.
