This review is from: The Academic Library: Its Context, Its Purpose, and Its Operation (Hardcover)
I am reading this book for a class, and am highly impressed. It is an excellent guide to any LIS student interested in academic librarianship. Budd is very aware of key issues & challenges facing the field today and argues forcefully for the mission and purpose of academic libraries in Higher Education. This book is MUCH superior to Stueart & Moran's book on business jargon & buzzwords, and embraces library values that are often markedly different from corporate values--a refreshing view in a field where so-called "Information Science" gets all the fame & attention while traditional Library Science gets marginalized. |
