About the Author
Theodore Caplow is Commonwealth Professor of Sociology at the University of Virginia. He is the author of Systems of War and Peace, American Social Trends, and Peace Games. Reece J. McGee is professor of sociology emeritus at Purdue University. He was awarded the American Sociological Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to Teaching. He is the author of Academic Janus, three textbooks, and numerous articles on the academic profession and teaching.
