I bought this model elsewhere but feel compelled to review it here mainly to help people understand what they are getting into. The quality of this 1/600 Academy Titanic is top notch. It seems all the tooling is new for this mold. The pieces are so very tiny yet the molding is perfect. No flash and the only sanding I have done is where the pieces are cut from the sprues which brings me to cutting from the sprues. You will need to be very careful because the pieces are so tiny they are very easy to lose and also can deform the part if not cut carefully. The staircases are ridiculously small and in two piece. I did not have a good hold on one of side pieces of the stairs and it flew across the room. It took my wife and me 3 hours to find it with a flashlight. And gluing the staircase halves together is a major pain, and the staircases are two different colors. I think they are in two pieces to make painting easier. With that said I think this is a very high quality model with lots of parts. The pieces all fit like a glove. I have not finished yet but am very determined to finish it. I also replaced the thread for the rigging with some of my wife's sewing thread. The quality of thread that comes with the kit to me is very low standard. Sewing thread measured about .002 larger diameter so is better and stronger and fits all the holes just fine. So bottom line if you have eagle eyes (mine aren't so good) and are very careful with all the little tiny pieces, the is an excellent model of the Titanic (A good magnifier will be very handy). But I would not want to do it again.

The product was very professional. There were no tares or anything to complain about. The shipping came in time and before christmas. The ship looks complicated to build at firsts glance but once you start reading the instructions it is step by step and fairly easy. Can't wait to finsih it.

I'm not sure what counts as "easy", so I'll try and be as objective as possible. I found this model of "RMS Titanic" to be quite intense. Much of your time with the kit will be constructing the façade of the several decks of the superstructure - and most of that time will be spent positioning the many small pieces that comprise the railings and other deck fittings. When completed, the levels that comprise the middle of the superstructure are assembled together before being attached to the hull. Unfortunately, I had many problems getting that central assembly to line up correctly with the model's single-piece hull and the side-fittings. Because the model is extremely small-scale for its subject, slight misalignment of pieces can have painfully noticeable effects. Because so many pieces are small, expect to spend a lot of time with a hobby knife delicately peeling away flash.

This was my first ship model (obvious, right?), and while I managed to finish it, I think I'll stick with submarines or airplanes from now on.

Ok...let me just start with WOW! This item is very detailed and the pieces are very tiny and will take lots of time and patients to build. This is truly a model for an experienced builder, however, the results are spectacular.

This is NOT a toy. Only master model builders need to consider this thing. I don't think the space shuttle is this complicated.
