I've enjoyed SF for over 50 years now. And this is some of the best. The technical details, the action, the character interplay are all wonderful. My attention was held to the point that I put in a few late nights just to get a little further along in the story. I shall now re-read both Vol. 1 and 11 right now just to savor some of the character development, action and dialogue. I shared with my wife the basis of the work and even though she is not a SF reader - she as I, appreciated the moral concept, the depth of character, the plot cohesion, the clearly Good and clearly Bad characters. I too shall be looking for Vol. III and also taking a good look at some of Trigili's other works. I perhaps am most appreciative of his work being what I would simply call - clean - thus making it so much more enjoyable.

I found volume 1, Enemy of an Enemy, about 6 months ago and really liked it, character development was good, story line engaging and was happy all around with the book. Now volume 2, The Academy, is out and I was stuck, spent way too much time reading it, I just couldn't stop! I really enjoyed this book and the ending now has me wishing that I wouldn't have found these books until all three were done, cause now I have to wait until some time next year to get the next volume... I find something in the way these stories are written that remind me somewhat of Robert A. Heinlein's earlier works. As they would have said in the old days, "A darn good read".

Vincent Trigili shows that he can expand on his first novel and produce an even more impressive "Volume II", in the series The Lost Tales of Power. The second book takes you through the adventures at the Academy and the challenges the young students have on their way to becoming a new generation of warriors ready to continue the fight. If you enjoyed the first volume then you are in for a treat with this newest edititon. The only problem is you will have to wait for the next book to continue the story.

The Second Book in the "Lost Tales Of Power" Series narrated again by Jack De Golia @JackWestCoast. Jack's ability to do male and female voices and even different alien races in a way that I can tell who is talking before the author tells me is a great credit to his workmanship and love of the spoken word.  The Author Vincent Trigili work continues to expand a universe to include other dementions without streaching the believability of the story.  He takes from several different known ideas, stargates, warp drive, magic, good and evil, and weaves them into a story that is interesting and intriguing.

In this book the Characters from the first Book "Enemy of an Enemy" play an advanced but background roll and he introduces us to new young characters. Although young is relative as these characters live for hundreds of years. As the Empire has fallen and the Imperial Navy has been broken up and handed out to newly formed "states/governments" James the Pilot who assissted in defeating the Sorcerers in the final battle must deal with his nightmares of loseing a ship in battle and of his future. James enters the academy and unlike normal boot camp this training starts with a ten year training and weeding out process. Breaking students of old world ideas of selfishness and rebuilding selflessness and team work. Something lost in the technology overloaded future.

There is still a darkness in the air over the newly formed republic and only a few can sense its presence. Time is ticking to train new wizards in time for the sorcerers revenge. This book and series looks at manyaspects of future life in a mystical yet practical way. I enjoy these books and hope to continue to receive them for review in the future.

I enjoyed this book even more than Volume One: The Enemy of an Enemy. It's fast-paced and scene changes are handled nicely. I like the mix of tech and magic so far in this series and am really looking forward to the next one coming out.

Nicely formatted and typo-free.

For science fiction or fantasy I gravitate towards novels based on psi etc and I must admit this series is one of the best that I've read. It's a series that you cannot put down because the story line entices you to continue reading and it's so believable. Excellent!

The Academy continues to build the great universe (well, multiverse) created in The Enemy of an Enemy (Lost Tales of Power), but expands the point of view to involve multiple characters, which creates a much smoother flow of information; some of the constant sense of urgency may be lost, but the author intentionally brings it back at perfect points in the story. He expands on the details created in the first book, introducing new depths and limitations that will clearly play a huge role as the series continues.

The heroes we're introduced to in the first book had almost insane levels of power that could have made future books centering on them difficult to plan without resorting to unnatural reverse deus ex machina to give them a challenge that would be interesting to the reader. In The Academy, these heroes are involved in what are no doubt powerful schemes, but on such a grand scale that they are too busy to do much beyond provide guidance to our new characters. As they grow in power (and responsibilities), we really get to enjoy watching the author's characters struggle with what they want to do, what they know they should do, and how to best resolve both in their limited scope.

Keep reading as they only get better! :)
