More About the Author

Tim Hebert got interested in genealogy while in his 20s after talking with his grandmothers about the family.

His first book was an index of Acadian and Cajun related articles in genealogical periodicals (1990).

His next book, Acadian-Cajun Genealogy: Step by Step, was published by the Center for Louisiana Studies in 1993.

He took a respite from genealogy and wrote Methodism Along the Bayou in 1994. He also started a 10-year Historical Register project in Louisiana at that time, culminating in the Historical Register of over 500 United Methodist churches in the state.

He began a website in 1996 - Acadian-Cajun Genealogy & History - which continues to be one of the largest resources for Acadian-Cajun genealogy, history, and culture on the web.

For the 1999 CMA in Louisiana, he produced a printed version of his Hebert site in The Hebert Databook.

The following year, he completed a translation of the only un-published set of Acadian church records. The book - Acadian Church Records: Port LaJoye, Ile St. Jean, 1749-1758: St. Jean l'Evangeliste Parish - is now available at Amazon.com.

Long interested in maps, he published the Acadian-Cajun Atlas in 2003 ... a collection of maps relating to Acadians and Cajuns (available at Amazon.com).

In 2009, he finished rewriting his genealogy how-to book from the early 90s (available at Amazon.com).

His next book - An Acadian-Cajun Journal - is currently being written.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Acadian-Cajun Research Resource, March 24, 2000

This review is from: Acadian-Cajun Genealogy: Step by Step (Paperback)
Mr. Hebert has compiled an outstanding selection of resources for those who are researching their Acadian-Cajun roots. The guide is very detailed and divided into time periods. It is obvious that this was a "labor of love" for Mr. Hebert. It is a "must have" and inexpensive reference for anyone who has Acadian-Cajun roots.
